Motor movers , I like that idea....

I thought that full tracks were a bit of overkill for most chipping jobs and remembered the Ford 4000 with half tracks pulling a trailer with FMV crane, it could go anywhere the County would. So a cage driven by the same hydraulic motors as the feed rollers and a lightweight steel (or plastic) band track which could be put on around the road wheels and off quickly.

Behold the Chipdozer!

An unholy union of British, Latvian and Finnish engineering on a Satanic quest for Arboral destruction.

I carried the chipper up an off a wet off camber track with the dozer instead of risking the Valtra. Shame the dozer dosnt have enough shaft speed to run the chipper. Be a propper weapon .

Don't see why you couldn't fit motor movers. Probably not ideal on a muddy surface. I did fit a set to an Ifor Williams trailer for an old guy I knew. Worked well when empty no good when full. The ones I fitted to my caravan were rated at about 2.8t.

Nifty have it as an option on their large cherry pickers.

I read somewhere that some big yankee chippers have movers as well.

I think the best answer is a small wheeled loader with a tow hitch on the fixed grab.

The loader is a game changer in this job anyway.

If you can’t afford that, push and drag till you can afford it.

Used the word ‘think’ twice in quick succession and it annoyed me.
