£450 is  low esp if remove all clippings (clippings tidy up etc probably near half the job)

Also 12ft high hedges are often 12ft wide also...

It’s not low. The poster said she can do it in a day. It’s reasonable to assume a professional with professional gear is probably going to do it in half a day.

Suppose it  depends on what the acess either side is like  and how much height and width they want trimmed off.

Alot of unknown variables  & there always it seems some pita factor that comes to light, not always at first apparent.

What someone can do in a day claims are very  often wildly inaccurate no offence to the OP.

Ok i reccommend:

A japanese style tripod ladder the 2.4m one with 3 adjustable legs if any slopes

A large tarp

A step up

Builders bags (more the better.....)

Makitas cordless trimmer   plus 3 batteries and charger

plus Loppers/silky and a cordless chainsaw if its a more serious reduction...

No one has asked, is there space to get a machine in.

If the current electric (corded) hedge cutters are too heavy, then cordless isn't really going to help much with the weight, unless you maybe look at backpack batteries or easy lift type harness.

The last quote I had was £450,

£450 to cut 300ft of of 12ft high hedge inc some of it spikey and your complaining over a quote for that. If I was told you had a quote for that I wouldn’t bother to waste any more of yours or my time, I would merely say you had best ring them back before they change there mind! 🤯

If you want to do it your self, stihl battery gear, a easy lift harnes and a tripod ladder will cost you a few years worth of cutting with out your time to cut it and dispose of the cuttings! Good luck.

btw a 2 person team needs to bring in over 450 a day to cover wages, insurance, fuel, kit, truck etc etc etc
