Or a poor connection between the battery and starter. I don't know the machine so guess that the starter is well earthed to the engine, the return/earth leads may also warrant looking at.

 

Edit: Less likely, but we've had lots of starting problems on different machines that have turned out to be a faulty/worn ignition switch.

Cheers people, turns out the battery isn’t holding charge, suppose good news is a battery is cheaper than a starter motor.

i assume the towbar is just for little tractors and the like, not road legal

This model chipper is a generic Chinesium affair sold under a myriad of names with slight variations. This one with the folding hopper is new to me though.

Hopper folding may make for quicker blade changes but the hopper looks narrow which may make for harder feeding?
