Weekend Work Rate

Saturdays always time and a half and Sundays double time. Anyone cheap enough not to pay this is not worth working for.

Whenever I have worked weekends it sat 1.5 and 2 x for Sunday.

 

most of the guys I climbed for in London did this.  If their customer insists it is done in a weekend.  Standard reply is 1.5 times normal rate as the boys will be getting that.

 

as long as your upfront with the client.  They pay for your time.

 

do the guys who work for standard rates do so the same for call out or night shift?  They are both technically within a 24 hour day.

We had to fell some poplars close to the edge of the A27 were it goes over the Chichester canal . We had to start at 05:00 am on a Sunday when traffic was at a minimum . We got double bubble for that .

Have to say I have a  job this Saturday , got to be done on a Saturday 2 teams out on it and double pay for all . I have to say I don't usually go double as Saturday work tends to only be a short day if we work at all . The client was made aware early on this was ok with it .

I’m self employed, I’ll work Saturdays for normal day rate cos I know that very soon there’s going to be days and part days I can’t work due to weather. There’s also going to be days when I’m crook and can’t work?. There’s no sickness benefits for me or company scheme where I self certify a sick chit- nobody will give a sh**. Blokes who sub to me also think the same fortunately. There’s an old Chinese proverb that says - “make hay when the sun shines“? but obviously written in Chinese?I just interpreted it for you all?

It's all swings and roundabouts aint it. Some weeks you're flat out doing evenings, saturdays, sundays, not a single day off.

 

Other weeks you're quieter, or manage to sneak a day off midweek when the weather's good, and go off wild swimming when everyone else is trudging off to their boring office job. 

 

 

I quite like working weekends, the roads are quieter in the morning/evening, and you always seem more likely to get tips/cake/pies etc!

Any days a work day in our house, mrs is a nurse so we plan with her shifts so we get at least one day a week together. Try and avoid working sundays unless it’s finishing a job off as too many people moan about noise!
If i have anyone in to work a weekend i try and keep it a short day sat and they get some extra to cover a few beers, Sun would be double bubble.

Have to agree with nearly everyone else, 1.5x on Saturday and double bubble on Sundays [emoji106]

Never once been paid more than day rate.
Most firms don’t even pay extra for staying away or overtime.
