100 to 1 mix 2 stroke oils

Yes but I'm not sure why, is because they  run cooler? Not many 2t outboards now, I have a johnson seahorse on the bench atm trying to work out why the magneto has no spark. Then I have to see about replacing the floor of the inflatable.

Yes and some where mixed at 10-1 the early seagull outboards where 10-1 and then in the 50s went to 20-1, and during the 2nd WW small boats where sent across the chanel with seagull outboards on to recover troops from the beachs at Dunkirk,

I accept the fact that some members own older saws that have more specific requirements.

 

BUT

 

Generally, modern machines run at 50:1.

This ratio has been arrived at by German and Swedish technical experts with brains bigger than your house.

 

There still seem to be loads of people out there banging on about 33:1 or 25:1 because that’s what Grandad used to use, and he knew best.

 

Nothing will destroy a good saw quicker than putting the wrong mix in.

You should be totally anal about getting your mix spot on, every time.

 

The biggest whingers and slaggers off of certain models of saw on here should look at their mix first.

I don’t mix anything now.
Get the 55 litre drums of motomix.
Pre mixed alkylate petrol with stihl ultra.

At 100:1 I would want to be very accurate with the mix!

 

I would guess there would also be performance gains in using that ratio as when I get a saw in that uses 25:1 they run terrible.

Can an Autotune/M-Ttronic saw sense if I mix Ultra at 40:1 and will it adjust the air/fuel mixture to accommodate the higher proportion of oil in the oil/fuel mixture?

Good question .  I think it only studies fuel/air /rpm ratio irrespective of quantity of oil but could well be wrong here .
