Lock Down?

Being self employed like the majority of guys on here and some have regular self employed guys working for them,I was just thinking if we have to self lock down for a couple of weeks will the Government pay us lost income??

I very much doubt it. Extenuating circumstances, act of God, whatever you want to call it. It's just one of those mildly existentially threatening ballaches. We'll get through it. 

 

On the plus side (for us), we almost bought a house before Christmas and I'm really, really glad that we didn't now. Entirely selfish I know, but you have personally have to look on the bright side of life, as a great man once said

Like you say Big j always a positive...fuel coming down daily and could be £1 a litre soon...better start stock piling the cans?

I’m quite looking forward to a few weeks of pottering around the garden! Particularly if the sun comes out too! Got loads of personal projects I want to get on with and never find enough time- just got to make sure I get the materials in before the lockdown.

What would lock down entail though ? Could you say travel a few miles down the road and go fishing ? Sounds mint to me if so..
I could stay in the yard at home and get enough fire wood cut and not be short like last year , cut a load of larch for the poly tunnel and make raised beds and generally get a load of things done I should of years ago!

It's the selfishness that gets me, two weeks lock down wouldn't be good, but for the good of everyone in the country?

 

I don't have elderly parents/grandparents but these are the people that will cop it first if what I've read is correct.

 

Most of us, (not all) are very small businesses, two weeks off the tools wouldn't be a killer, coronavirus is.

Tis the lazy gobshites in Government jobs, that will be rubbing their hands in glee, at the thought of at least 2 weeks more paid leave, because, gosh, they would not wish to act irresponsibly by going to their work.

I, from 32 years experience, know the type all too well.
