Chain oil

Morning all. I’m sure this topic has been covered multiple times, but as per usual I can’t seem to use the Arbtalk search facility correctly!

 

I buy my chain oil in bulk (well, 20/25 litre drums) and I’m coming to the end of my current batch of Super Sexy tackle. I’ve been very happy with it to be honest. I’ve used Oregon before but didn’t like it, it seemed extra flingy rather anti fling. I recall using some John Deere stuff before that was supposed to be for a harvester head, and found it very good. 
 

Does anyone have any recommendations for other brands to try? I was looking at Gator ET30, Rocwood, Westway Supertack, etc etc.

 

I predominantly do first thinnings work, small scale forestry.

Rotatech do a good one with a sexy wrapper on it ( however I did have to spend an hour slitting off said pouting young lady image as HR went bonkers over it ) k

I think the stuff I’ve used is essentially Rotatech stuff. I’m fairly certain it came from Northern Arb Supplies. I have been very happy with it, so will probably order more of the same.

Rotatech and super sexy chain oil are the same oil just different stickers on the drum, both come from northern arb supplies and why would you want to change something that your happy with ?, I have used several different chain oils over the years Stihl,oregan,rockoil etc and the super sexy / rotatech oil is by far the best value for money by a country mile, and to give you some idea on the amount we use (2 of us ) a 25 ltr drum lasts about 8-10 days cutting for us depending on saw size, one guy who works with us now and then buys 20ltr drums of veg oil but he has to by a bar for his saw every 12-15 months and that to me is false economy, so for me its as the saying goes. if its not broken don,t fix it,

Have used gator et30 for the last 6 years when my local hydraulic shop how was always a good price suddenly lept up in price. 

Last lot I bought was very orange like oregon oil.
