Whats the best t-shirt for climbing trees?

I won £100 arborwear voucher in the Arbtalk Xmas raffle about 4 years ago. Got myself 4 green polo shirts with my name and logo embroidered on them, so comfy, stain resistant and hard wearing great shirts!

I have a few of the Arborwears and rate them as well.

You sweat just as much but you’re still comfy, unlike cotton.

 

The Pfanner that Steve mentioned is an excellent bit of kit as well.

Cool, fast-wicking and hard wearing.

 

I changed the logo on mine to ‘Kappa’ though, because I didn’t want folk thinking I’m stupid.

I did not think there would be enough room for " Kappa " on your mankini Mark .

In a bid to dry off a bit more on hotter days I’ve ditched my long suffering cotton t’s for these.

You hardly know you’re wearing them !!! 

......and at just under £7 a pop 

I have to admit though I have yet to undertake a 100 mile hike in one so I may be premature in my appraisal

I'm not really interested in everyones personal experiences, I want the advice from someone who has 'researched' t shirts on the web really thoroughly

My own personal experience of Tee shirts is they're all much of a muchness..  some feel better on the skin,(cotton)hence feel better to wear...  but come unstuck if they get wet as they tend to take longer to dry...

 

So guess what, an alternative is a tee shirt made with man made materials..  lighter, and wick sweat away and dry faster as a result..   

 

Guess what doesn't add anything to a tee shirt!!!....   sticking a dumb arse logo on em..  

 

logo's don't make you a better climber, or hiker for that matter..  I mean if they did, every tree surgeon would be climbing tree's with a batman outfit hired from the local fancy dress store now wouldn't they?...

 

Ah, a thought..................... its because a tee shirt has a certain logo that it actually makes the wearer feel like spiderman, or batman, or the incredible hulk... or dare I say it, like a proper tree surgeon!!!!!!!....

All "sport" t shirts aren't equal some cheapo ones are like bin bags. One sport/running one I got for £3 from aldi was terrible, but another is alot better/ more breathable.

 

So cheap ones can be okish or bad, bit of a gamble.

 

After something better for fell running atm or maybe i'll go for a vest...

Long sleeve rash-guards for everything. Bought four "Sondy" brand on sale for 15 euro each, four odd years ago, still perfect. Mesh vented down the flanks, very stetchy, impossible to tear, snug neck to keep out chips, long, so you can pull them down over your pants to keep chips out there, wicking etc. I think they're 80-90 % Lycra.
