You can see the cherry logs in the L/h side of the pic, also it was covered in ivy ? That’s a pain in its self,  Damson”s don’t get very big, pear well only the trunk was saved. Edit a lot has gone through the chipper.(all the damson and all but the trunk of the pear.

i think 1k is a lot, but how many quotes did you get, and how many guys were there. Oh and did they ask for cash and any have a pikey accents.

Talking from my experience as an employee some times it’s quicker to bang as much through the chipper as possible than to spend logging up. We have a chipper that can take up to 8 inch rounds so we often chip what others would have to log up unless stated otherwise ie. want as many logs as possible

Logging takes longer than chipping, so I agree with TT above.

Unless things have been agreed in advance that's how it is.

You would have had more logs but the overall price would have increased because the job would take longer overall.

I agree with others though, £1k seems steep, but I wasn't there.

I'm confused as to why there was brushwood left on site, though.

You havnt been ripped off, you agreed the price they quoted you and they have done the work you asked for, as for the logs I would think that they have only ringed up the size of wood worth keeping , the rest went through the chipper.

define ripped off?...

Do you not have google then vesp?

I obviously know what ripped off means.. trouble is others don't seem to..  confusing a legally binding contract with being ripped off...

With the best will in the world I can't see how this job wasn't one were the customer hasn't been ripped off.. and royally..

a middling tree and a couple of midget tree's, thieving bastards...

Did you get other quotes? If not it's difficult to have much sympathy.

Did you check they were a reputable established company? Website, recommendations etc.

Were you given a detailed quote listing what was happening to the arisings? The abandoned brash is confusing. I'm assuming you asked to keep the chip.
