From what I understand it is 5 years for professional users and three for occasional users such as machine drivers who jump out of the cab and cut occasionally?

Who did your refresher and what reasons where you you given for only three years, did you ask?

We were all professional cutters, we did not know until paperwork sent out. Can't remember who assessor was,  he was from the forestry school at Inverness

Just get an assessor in and do your big tree and wind blown.  Takes about 45 minutes if you are as up to speed as you think you are and believe it or not, you may even learn something.

Pizza cut, who knew ?

You did large trees and wind blown in 45 minutes, nonsense.

Pizza cut, who knew [emoji3]

It takes at least an hour or more to fill out the q and a paperwork.
Then on to site where you will have to fell at least 3-4 trees minimum.
Over bar length and one hung up to remove with tirfor.
Then it's crown breakdown and stack brash. (Had a guy to do this)
Still took me 3 hours.
Last November.
No pizzas.

Felling 6-12 trees (according to the assessment schedule) including the set up and clearing up as well as the q & a, and including large trees, in 45 minutes.  Pretty good going.  Unless of course it was an assessor who was more interested in giving a Pass rather than checking competence.  It does confirm something long suspected, that this qualification is not fit for purpose and is not being delivered appropriately by (some) assessors.

Like most things in life, it's not what you know...
