One got my hand crushed on a screw splitter broke some fingers but it crushed and split a ring imbedding it in my finger , then it started swelling! Not as bad as degloving but I would never wear one again. I’ve had eye brow ,ear and nose rings pulled out by branches as well so stopped wearing them.
Jewellery does not have much place in this job.. be careful of long hair getting caught in hitches as well !

Never understood the eye piercings.  Theres so many scenarios where they could get ripped out.

Before the hitch climber came on the scene I had my vt configured so the vt and the eye splice were each on their own karabiner.  This was great for being able to split the system and walk through it in a sort of cradle.

Unfortunately one day I got my nipple piercing jammed between the 2 krabs, that made my eyes water a little.

That's the one! Ta.

I knew there was another reason for not wearing rings.

As you say any crushing injury is going to be made so much worse by the flattened ring embedded in your finger.

But... thers more!

The crushed ring shuts off the circulation to the finger; the finger starts to rot; necroses sets in; you finally get the ring off, circulation is restored... and you die from toxic shock as all the shite in your finger circulates all around you.

Oh what joy!

Oh yeah! having a ring on your finger may also make the difference between just whipping your hand out of the way when that load comes crashing down and not.
