Some people just really enjoy their rigging. Perhaps it lubes it up a bit, making it easier to undo?

Can also use flat head combi spanner to break the knot insert it in between and wiggle to break knot then undo
I prefer it when someone else just does a water bowline whatever with your rope and you have to beat the shit out of it with a lump hammer for 20 minutes to get it out after.
