Releasing knot from rope

Recommended Posts

I had to use my rigging rope to pull a vertical standing fallen branch out, using a truck. Unfortunately it has pull the knot so tight on the rope that I can't get it out! Any ideas how to loosen it up?

Next time I'll tie a different knot. Had a crowd watching us, they were all 'experts', just wanted to get out of there quick. I could have set it up better.

When you do get the knot undone, have a careful look at the rope. It could have potentially damaged the core.

When doing a heavy pull, I try and use a big portawrap on the pulling end & on the tree I try & wrap the rope around it several times before tying it off to reduce the force on the knot directly.

Hope it's ok

Does no body put a tapered stick in knots that are going to do that ?  I have always done it . Just tap the stick out and the knot is loose .
