Puts our little dusting this morning to shame.

I am only commenting on what I can see in your picture; you could make yours act like a regenerative ram with a diverter, I think it would need to be a "make before break" type so as the flow from the rod side is never shut off (which would cause over pressure in the hose). Also you would need an extra short length of hose. The output from the rod side goes to the diverter, the flow from the diverter feeds to the piston side of the pump. When the ram slows or stops the diverter manually operated dumps back to the existing spool. When the ram reaches the end of stroke the diverter has to be connected to the existing spool, else a one way valve will be needed around the diverter. The splitter I operated with a regenerative spool was a bit disconcerting as it "kicked" when the pressure in the system increased before the regeneration stopped and direct pressure was exerted, this cycled a few time as the ram jerked forward. For my part, and only for my own use, my ideal firewood is a 2" to 4" round piece of hardwood ( birch in profusion on the heath is ideal) 9" long. I wish there was a small machine to cut to that.

With practice I can cut grass neatly with a massive cc engine. For small areas you can use half revs but its not great for the engine long term. Try thinner string. With the bump head, try having the bump bit rubbing on the ground as a guide, but not too hard so more string comes out.

Looking at it id go in tripple , maybe quadruple the price, the job i looked at that was a pound a whip was easy, soft ,clear no roots ground and no coming back either . I did a job once like yours in staffs, (timberhonger) going was shite ,3inch of peat then the rest was a mix of quartz and roots .. the stumps weren't cleared off site and the aim was to plant 1500 whips a day ! Wasn't doable . Have you got much else on in the was of work . Evening all, I'm looking at a change in occupation, though I'm currently employed the desk job is killing me and I crave the outdoors. I've been busying myself on my work holidays undertaking my CS30/31/38 - but not 39 yet (there's some logistical complications having done my initial 30/31 actually as the ICC1/2 course rather than with lantra before I found out the 2 similar course providers though practically identical aren't recognised by each other....). In my spare time I've really enjoyed and been climbing, pruning and felling for friends and neighbours (mostly farmers who are happy to get odd jobs done for free/for wood). 2026 brings another 6-8 weeks of holidays and I'll happily take them early on getting some experience helping out a local firm preferably around Cumbria. So if any one wants a free groundsman, or climber with his own kit for a few weeks here or there, in return I can get some experience of what doing tree work for a living looks like rather than for fun before I finally take the plunge and make the switch full time please get in touch.

Anyone got an Evoque or other Land-rover product that has suspension position sensors? The missus' Evoque had a new wishbone fitted and the drop link to the sensor was bust. I got a new sensor but the drop link seems to be in need of adjustment (cheap kin imported shite) but the fixing the the wishbone is lost! Does it just press fit over a stud or is there a bush or just a bolt? What size thread in to the wishbone? M5, M6, M8?

A nearby farmer purchased a teleporter and had the bag lifter for sale, they used to have a drill or spreader mounted on the lifter, I looked at it and thought it was ideal to mount my winch, it worked out really well, the lifter will extend another meter and a half and I have a set of tongs to fit on the end, or I can run the winch cable through a pulley attached to the lifter in place of the hook and use it like a skidder, it has proved itself a very versatile combination.

Had the Echo Pole Pruner something like a PT2400 a few years ago with the extra 1.5m (?) extension - huge reach but a bit unwieldy. Machine is long gone but I still have the extension in our unit somewhere if anyone would be interested at £75.00 ?
