The taller one of those looks like it may do what I'm after. What size do you have and does it feel decently stable when fully extended? The 6.4 looks like its 3m as an A frame and £240. I dont mind paying that for a good one.
  3. Im looking forward to it just got to find something to mill first was watching a chap at Launceston show milling a lump of sweet chestnut (I think) and the grain pattern was bloody beautiful.

  6. I've just started running it on my 36v Makita, I really like it compared to the Oregon 1.1 3/8P semi chisel it came with. The Oregon had massive safety bumpers that I had to file off to do any kind of plunge, or cut over bar length. Stihl cuts clean and fast. As you say, easier sharpening than 1/4. I basically use that for limbing out a dismantle though, I'd stick with 1/4 for pruning as cutting smaller diameters you still want a couple of teeth in contact all the time to keep the cutting smooth.

  9. imagine how good a politician you'd be - your wit and intelligence shines through in every post
  10. Why don't you actually engage brain and see who used said phrase in a TV interview. I'm hardly defending anyone, you're the one running around like a Karen clutching pearls instead of seeing the bigger picture and shouting ist accusations. But hey, you're the sort of person that went down a rabbit hole peal clutching without looking up from the book of idealogical bs, maybe you wrote the SNP/NHS fife advice ?.

  13. @Steve Bullman that’s about 20 minutes from me if you fancy an away trip.

  16. Pro comms for us. They have proven a great product and very durable. Widespread is has made it easier when working alongside others
  17. Matty is on the money if you want to run the 14". Drill the bar as otherwise you will have to get chains made up. The stihl 10" needs 57 not 56 dl, the 12" 65 not 64 so I guess you need 73 which isnt available off the shelf, 57 and 65 are.Or do as Mark said and put a 10" on with a 57dl chain. Also as Matty mentioned make sure you have the 1/4" sprocket on your saw.
  18. I don’t think this is the site for you
  19. Hi all my name's Carl I'm looking for full time work down Devon got all my qualifications and level 2 abc arb and got 19 year experience anyone got full time work employed or self-employed or if anyone knows who wants a climber thanks
  20. I’d stick them on Facebook marketplace at £20 each and see if you get a bite.
  21. Just seeing if there's anyone interested in a couple of used exerter charcoal retorts, would be buyers welcome to come and see them working .
  22. I use software from Otiss/Pear Technology. It's about £360/year. Helpful support staff. I would do some practice surveys first and get the hang of using it. There are a lot of options re what you record. Then there is the facility to download as pdf files or Excel. I find the Excel a bit of a pain as not too familiar with setting out. Also with such a large acreage, you will have to see what sizes to divide the site up for your online maps. It's a very big site for beginning out on, so definitely do a few practices in a park or small woodland.

  25. Scared of a worm. Poof. Aim for it. Show it who’s boss. I picked an apple up from a mate’s garden the other day. Had an obvious wormhole. No hesitation. No surrender. Straight into the arsehole end of it and ate everything bar the stalk. I like to think I made some sort of point there.
  26. They may not be a husky dealer and have to pay top price for parts but even then its extreme. Did you do anything with the saw or is it still in a box in bits? Seems a waste if it is.
  27. That looked good but it seems that you cant get them in the UK anymore. The start system on the br800 is to say the least a complicated setup! Ive only had two in for repair, one was was because the customer thought it was a four stroke and put neat petrol in it. The other was a starter issue. The starter was jamming open, I couldnt see any issue apart from a clean and grease and it seems to be working OK up to now.
