Can anyone recommend a manual tyre changing tool for small tyres?
woody paul replied to Muddy42's topic in Maintenance help
Never had a problem if a puncher needs mending anything from barrow to 38in tractor but just get company to fit new on truck and trailers., Went to have a ifor williams trailer tyre mended once and fitter said you can't do them with leavers, I said why so once he broke bead he handed me two leavers and said have ago, that was a challenge I was not going to miss. After about a couple of minutes tyre had parted from wheel and tyre fitter stood there shaking his head, he had set challenge to others and most only got one side off. -
Well duhhhh!

Ooh err. That would certainly bring home the bacon.

yeah , deff somethings to be thinking about think firstly we are not going to advertise our location, and all wood drops and such we will deliver only, this will avoid people coming to the yard.. the yard is behind three locked gates , and going to put up some mesh so people can't see in, Will put the chipper in the container and lock it inside, need to get some ramps, prob make some .. all our saws, and expensive climbing kit, gonna take home, won't let anyone leave their kit.. the trailer will need to be left outside and would have to lock this up, and keep it out of sight .. We watched a vid on FB where a tree firm was turned over, and they appeared to take everything, on the video, it looked like they knew where everything was, my first thoughts was it was someone who had been there before, maybe worked for them .. I imagine it must have been devastating ..

Thanks for that. I guess I'll have a do at making some smaller pieces for local shows then. I've been advised to use social media by other people for selling slabs/boards and mobile milling services so I might try that too but, as you say, it's very time consuming.

I believe the issue is now sorted. Blocked jets being the cause. I took the fuel tank and top of the carb off, sprayed carb cleaner in all the holes and then used the airline to blow them through. The engine now idles and runs on maximum well. I'm yet to chip with it so the engine hasn't been loaded yet. But provisionally, I'd say issue is resolved.

As a new owner of a grapple saw I had a great morning yesterday, there’s a lot to learn, all to avoid damaging the bar and chain. And tips and pics appreciated. In my excitement yesterday I grabbed, cut and the top fell off the tree and I remained grabbing the trunk 😂. Note to brain, the push bit is the top!

Rifles you regret selling !! I guess most on here will have sold something then regretted it later. For me it was a Sako TRG 41 many years ago when 338 Lapua Magnum was a relatively new round. Bought it through a pal in Finland as a personal import. Super cheap at the time as the pound was strong against the Finnish mark, especially compared to GMKs price for one. Ammo was £56 for 20 back then. Sadly no pics but came across the paperwork whilst clearing out some crap recently. I often wonder if it’s out there still annoying the people on adjacent lanes as the muzzle blast was pretty fierce to say the least.

Thanks for that, I have a few of those, but my old lorry has unfortunately long gone. that's a Austin k2 I believe, I had a Bedford J type 4x4 , should have kept it really, regret it now. there's some real beauties there.

Yeah. I like the look of the Milwaukee one but Stihl do an angled head which the most artful gypsy sticker I know swears by.
-
Yeah , its one of my dreams for when I get too old to lift stuff, that'll probably never happen. Bought a loader instead.

... and like all rules, there are exceptions.... We've got topped limes in the churchyard which have dropped bits, but yes I guess once they get to a certain size they do knit in.

Theres a guy around ours that uses a Fiat Doblo tipper, looks ok

I bought the varcol 150 @£34, around the time kram spoke of it, I'v used it so far in 9 different saws, of all ages and brands and it's performed flawlessly in all of them.

Anyone use pick up trucks for small/medium tree and hedge jobs?
TheTreeWrangler replied to Lou Brown's topic in Arb-Trucks
We use trucks .. we tend to chip into bags for the most, we find that it saves a bit of time, and we also deliver chips by the bag load.. small jobs id take my truck with chipper, chip to the bag, load the bags in the truck.. big jobs second truck with trailer, can chip to trailer or bags .. we have never had a problem so far.. dont get me wrong, a tipper, is the standard and were looking at picking up the right one at some stage, but having trucks is workable .. -
The 1 at the front, same machine model just 1 year newer but smoother on the tracks and hydraulics.

I would have said that it depends on the "waste". Ex FIL got trailer loads from one mill and it was off cuts and bark etc which was stored outside so was very wet. He didn't get the argument that he should have been paid to take that crap away! I got a bench to go on his old Fergie, got the thing working and collected long lengths from Belvoir sawmill and spent a while slicing these off, good exercise and I could put crap into a barrow and put it on the burn heap rather than log shed. It was too much effort for him and I wasn't there that much so we went back to the crap logs! The stuff was sold as "sawmill waste", not as "firewood" as this has to be below a certain moisture content to be sold!
