  4. The boys school is on strike today so he joining me in the woods to collect some firewood. It’s about time I taught him how to cleave Sweetchestnut, so we will knock up a bit of post and rail whilst we are there, a lovely sunny morning.
  5. This is my story with the Avant 860i & dealing with Avant as a a company. I Purchased a new Avant 860i machine from ASCO in Tyler Tx 1.5 months ago. Soon as I took delivery of the machine I took it to a job & it immediately started chewing up hydraulic hoses near their proprietary grapple. So I loaded it up & took it back to the dealership to find that the edges on the grapple were so sharp they were cutting anything in site. I get the machine back from the shop grinding them down & take it to a job & the machine immediately starts shears off the bolts that hold the bracket for the other hydraulic hoses, which causes the bracket to gouge the tire & a whole myriad of other issues once that bracket is displaced. So I take it back into the shop where they replace the bolts. Back to the job I go & it immediately shears off the even harder bolts twice more. So back to the shop I go.. Then the same process repeats itself. So I get ahold of Bill at Avant in Illinois at the behest of the local tech that wants to weld the bracket to the back of the boom head. Then the shop calls me & says they done it but it doesn’t fix the issue as it needs to be redesigned by Avant to move the entire hydraulic coupler system to a new location otherwise further destruction will occur. So I reach back out to Bill who then admits there is a known design flaw in existing machines that’s being fixed in the new machines by moving the whole hydraulic system to a new location & so forth.. At this juncture I ask them to stop work on the unit & request a sit down & with ASCO & Avant. Since the machine has spent its entire lifetime up until this point in the shop I simply asked that Avant stand behind their product & take it back & cancel the contract between us. To which the sales manager refuses & says I’m sorry we don’t do that & simply offers a longer warranty, as if I want even longer to be plagued by their brand new machine that has oddles of issues. The meeting was short & I plan on litigating at this juncture because that’s my only option it would seem is to now have to prove what a joke the machine is I guess once that occurs I’ll have that information to share on what a complete lemon of unfinished poorly designed junk they produce is but also the company Avant itself does not stand behind the product in any way shape or form. I would never do business with them going forward & would suggest anyone looking at a piece of Avant equipment look elsewhere to a company that has worked out their design properly. I’ve been in business many years & bought used & sold tons of equipment & I’ve never seen anything like what I’ve seen with Avant. Buyer Beware!

A post entirely about “ what “ 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️you sick obsessed anonymous little man. Desperate to try and get one over on me to such an extent you’ve been humiliated on numerous occasions. For you and Mark “ it was a news headline yesterday” 🤷‍♂️reported on several major outlets. 9. A proctologist was angry at his career choice. High malpractice insurance cost, equipement fees, overhead of operating a clinic and still having to pay to operate at the hospital. So when his fifth malpractice lawsuit was filed against him, he'd had enough. "I'm going to quit doing this and follow my passion, motorcycles. So he said what the hell, he signed up for a motorcycle mechanics course at UTI, Universal Techinical Institute. "I'm good with my hands" he thought. So after 18 weeks of training it was final exam day. The class instructor wheels in an old motorcycle for each student, and the final exam it to make the bike run perfect, like new again. "You'll get the results in the mail", said the instructor. So when he gets the results in the mail, he cant believe that he scored 125% on the final exam. He calls up the instructor and asks " How can I have scored 125% out of a possible 100% on this exam? " "Well" says the instructor, "Here is how I scored the test." "You got 25% for correctly diagnosing the problem with the blown engine, 25% for removing the engine, 25% for rebuilding the engine, and another 25% for having the engine run perfectly after re-installation into the motorcycle." The proctologist student says, " But that only adds up to 100% percent and you scored me 125%." "Well" says the instructor, "You got an extra 25% because I've never seen anyone rebuild an engine through the tailpipe."

  13. Cheers for them answers. I hadn't thought about roadsise to be honest Mark, I might get away with that in spring when tree work's quiet. Thanks for the tip about Chainsaw Bars UK too, I get most of my milling kit that way but since Brexit I pay big import duties on it. He's got a load of Manpa stuff too I've seen which might be useful. I would probably be able to justify the expense if I knew I could sell some work off the back of it. Carving more would be a good start. Cheers again for your help, I probably will give you a shout Mark next time I'm over visiting.

  21. The Norfolk Arborist has gone from strength to strength since its formation in 2017, providing expert residential and commercial tree maintenance services throughout East Anglia. On the journey alongside owner Michael Lomax since day one is an FSI B22, which continues to handle every stump removal job with effective, reliable results week in, week out. With a large portfolio of domestic clients and commercial contracts including the Ministry of Defence and several large landowners throughout Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Northamptonshire, no two weeks are ever the same for Michael and his team. One thing the team can always rely on is the performance of their FSI B22, which has been their go-to solution for stump removal in restricted-access, residential settings for the last eight years. “It’s incredibly versatile and easy to use, making it a popular choice with the team” Michael explains. “Being self-propelled means we can send one van, equipped with a chipper and the FSI B22 stump grinder, and the team will have everything they need to get the job done. We must have clocked up close to 1000 hours with this machine and, with the exception of the regular wear and tear replacements, we’ve had next to no issues.” He emphasises, “The reliability of this machine has been extraordinary. We must have made our money back on it ten-fold over the years!” The robust performance of FSI is not limited to the smaller jobs however. For larger domestic and commercial projects Michael turns to his local FSI Partner Stag Machinery, where he readily hires the powerful yet highly manoeuvrable FSI D30. “There’s not a lot the FSI D30 can’t do! We can tackle up to 120 two-foot stumps in a day, making it very productive and highly efficient. Not only that but the lighter footprint of this machine compared to others in this category means we can still transport the unit over residential lawns, patios and other sensitive areas if needed without risk of causing damage.” Like many, Michael not only values the reliable performance of his equipment, but the back-up support and service received from their local FSI dealer. “Will at Stag has been brilliant, delivering a personal service and a quick response if we need anything. We like the fact the depot is local, and the ability to hire the FSI D30 as and when we need it means we can run our business and service the various needs of our clients, without the headache of managing and maintaining a really large fleet of our own.”

There was a time, when I lived a more "nomadic" lifestyle and lived in a Thames 15cwt van, traveled around to find very varied work, and lived on what I could trade, poach, or even find dead on the road, with a little imagination, or just plain hunger,,, a squirrel or two was a decent meal, perfectly edible, yes a little effort to prepare for not much meat, but better than no meal at all. soaked in brine, for a few hours before cooking improves most game, squirrel is no exception.
  24. I don't dream of using tech stuff, nor do I use tools, machines, drive, sail, fish, hunt, etc etc I used statins for the first time 15 or so years ago and I had awful dreams and nightmares (and a few other side effects) until I changed them for the second time.
  25. Hi - Update: 2 roles. 1. An experienced climber with an interest in passing skills onto others, and undertaking hi-end technical jobs when required. Ideally 1 day a week but would consider a couple of days a fortnight or a small block every month. Role would probably end up being 50% doing bigger stuff (we have other operatives to do this work as well) and 50% developing other climbers, whether alongside in tree or from ground (more likely). There maybe an opportunity for the right person who is looking to get into a training role in the future. Get in touch to discuss further as role will be designed around candidate to a degree. Rates negotiable. 2. Qualified Climber looking at developing into a crew leader role. Ideally would want someone to be capable of medium size crown reduction / capable of rigging medium sized tree (60ft). Passionate about Arboriculture and driven to improve. 5 days a week. email to contact: [email protected]
