Good Morning All.

You’ll have to give some more detail on what you are selling. Reading your description you use a range of words. Are you selling standing live trees? How much volume - would it fill a lorry - about 20 tonnes. How straight is the wood - for the mill or firewood. how good is the access from a road that the lorry can get to? To give you an idea, i sold about 2 acres of mixed species, mixed quality with rubbish access and terrain recently. We barely got any profit after the extraction costs. We were forced to fell as the trees were getting dangerous and falling on a main road.

I would start with blossom wilt, but check the curled leaves to see if anything in living there. You will need to remove all infected growth, cutting back to healthy wood. This material either needs to be burnt or taken away from site. I've had good success with a winter spray of Jays fluid diluted 50/50 with water.

I looked in at the BBC Live coverage of the proceedings a couple of times yesterday and yes, ev'tin TW says ^. Took their trackers er, phones, took pictures, left messages, didn't take scenic route, didn't delete the F out of everything. Right down to the meta-data for the pics giving the exact location of the tree! Seems - like the old boys who did the Hatton Garden job - they just had no idea what those little devices are capable of. I often wonder if there wasn't a cabinet/security meeting about twenty years ago; and someone said, "We are going to introduce a scheme whereby everyone will be forced to carry personal trackers and criminals will be required to film their criminal activity" And everyone just laughed. Then someone said, thoughtfully, "You know, we could make it work if we..." And the rest, as they say, is where you put your arm.

I'm unsure what this is, the fungus looks back and old. A large amount of wood at the base is soft, wet and powdery/crumbly, but I only probed it quickly with a stick. The oak is reasonably sized, has been reduced hard before, and would hit a house if it failed. However I know oak is very strong and resistant, I dont imagine it would fail anytime soon. Sorry for the poor photo, phone was dirty. A neighbouring tree about 50 meters away had Kretzschmaria, which failed with soft rotten roots in december. This looks more like a ganoderma or old turkey tail?

Ceratocystis platani - Canker stain of Plane
SeeTreePO replied to David Humphries's topic in Tree health care
If UK arbs could spare 5 minutes to complete this survey, it would be greatly appreciated. Its part of a package of Defra funded R&D projects run by Forest Research seeking to understand the threat from plane wilt and improve preparedness and contingency planning. Contributions will be completely anonymous if you wish. Cheers.
