Frank Ifield: 1960s chart phenomenon dies aged 86 WWW.BBC.CO.UK The singer was the first person to score three consecutive number one hits in the UK charts. "When my life is through And the angels ask me to recall The thrill of it all Then I will tell them I remember, tell them I remember Tell them I remember you."
  4. I’d agree Mick, it was tongue in cheek, saying that I dare say there’s a few happy people in Israel today.

MPs, doctors and NHS guilty of 'chilling cover-up' as 30k infected in blood scandal, landmark inquiry rules WWW.THESUN.CO.UK POLITICIANS, doctors and the NHS conducted a "subtle, pervasive and chilling" cover-up of the "worst... I’d think there will be some very nervous people today. Fair play to May for finally hitting the start button on the enquiry.

  9. One last thing I needed to do before I left the area was go to see my mate, a diamond of a fella who went way to soon. Rest in peace Coop.
  10. reading this thread, about time to teach The Boys - going to start simple with 3 strand ropes though, eye splices to start
  11. In the city where I am a lot of the 'homeless' are the same group and actually do have homes - they just found a profitable way of living. The genuine are not in the city centre really, pushed out by this gang - however there are enough visitors who don't recognise them to keep them in business. I've known a few genuine homeless in my time (in passing not close buddies), many have accommodation available to take up (family for example) and many do... but the issues around them are not solved and many go back onto the streets again unable to do 9-5 living.. houses are cheap enough for them but the mental stuff and getting them to engage with that is a lot harder.
  12. Very belated good morning all, Lazy start back to work. Have taken on elderly neighbour's mowing and shrub maintenance. Ideal rehab day on out front ride on, with steering wheel knob, so can use one handed.
  13. I reckon that if they did they would build profitable houses on bland estates with no expensive infrastructure like social centres, schools, shops, churches, bus stops, parks and play areas. Planners at least can specify "build 100 houses but also build a shop"

    Homeless

I think planners shouldn't exist. The expanded hot-take coming later.

    Homeless

Interesting so you think Planners should let developers do whatever they want and just not get involved? Priceless.

Not saying it would fix homelessness. I suspect that's more complicated.

Those councils are the ones strangling the supply of housing by enforcing planning laws. And their progenitors, central governemnt and central banking are the institutions that turned property primarily into investments rather than places to live. By inflating people's money away, people buy (already artificially scarce) property to store wealth, increasing demand, keeping them from poorer people, philanthropists etc. So no bleating about councils/government not helping. It's their fault. All they need to do to help is f off.

    Homeless

I go into Liverpool city centre once a month, early doors to do some Local Radio, over 10 years ago when I started I would get one or two lads a hot drink in the Winter and very rarely a sandwich - I suppose it eased my conscious for a bit. Four years ago I stopped, too many people on the streets and not enough people working with them to provide solutions or shelter. My worst observation was watching the local dealers all teenagers off loading drugs to them during the Christmas period. Truly shocking state of affairs, and many boarded up buildings and poverty strapped Councils losing people who would have traditionally helped.
