Makita was one of the first to do them - the small hand held and cabled types, with a horrendous price tag and small jaw capacity too! They were not the telescopic types though, just hand held. Chinese ones have better capacity.
  3. As much as little is needed , whole tree if I have too… but I’ll look at it like if I am using it it’s usually because what ever is compromised , obviously you would not be dumping half tonne lumps on it without a bollard too… but you can rig a crappy ash on it safe that your it doubling the loads on your rigging points and when you get half way in to decent timber put the lumps with a wrap on a device on bottom too… if you had too.

  5. Is "both" an option?
  6. Trigger shandy was an apprentice on the rigs. Not sure if he was in the army or not. He posted a wee picture a while back, being all mint and that.
  7. How much wood do you do with the safebloc, Matty?

    Dump on Drive

Ideally looking for hardwood, but will accept Ceder/Larch. Essentially looking for firewood... enough space to tip a full tipper of Logs. If you could call or text first I can get the car out the way. Work form home to available pretty much all the time and at short notice. Many thanks Nick
  9. It was 😉 And good morning Arbtalkers 😊
  10. Thread revival / update! So by chance I managed to find a second hand high output oiler (part number 11286403250). This is sometimes called a 1:1 oiler, meaning it uses 1 tank of oil to 1 tank of fuel rather than about 0.8 of an oil tank. I used the saw for a few hours yesterday and I can confirm this was how much oil it was using. I am a bit cautious about letting it run out of fuel/oil totally, for obvious reasons, but the saw was oiling even better. It seems really odd that this saw needs extra oil for a 20 inch bar, but if thats what it takes to avoid the bar nose seizing up, I dont mind.
  11. Anyone in the SE near Kent got an increment borer and can do a tree age report on a large black pine? Circa 1m dbh
  12. I was considering an 'end of year' report for Trump, but given his overwhelming failure to meet any of his election promises to the workers of the US, the summary would be 'F - can do better'. However will let the election in Texas do the talking where the newly elected Democrat - in Texas - the first time for a Democrat to take that seat in decades had a 25% swing. If the Republican heartlands are voting Democrat with that amount of change I think that is all we need to know of his successes. Trump had selective amnesia from giving an endorsement a couple of weeks ago to "I didn't know there was an election". Dementia kicking in or he is a liar?
  13. Best technique.
  14. That was the worst aspect of it I thought of.
  15. Good point.

  22. That in a nutshell , I would not want to imagine the ball ache of having a portawrap in a tree , safe bloc is more than capable and easy to reposition and no hassle. sorry for posting this again , but to me it proves the simple beauty of the device that has all the benefits you want or need in this scenario.
