  2. Fantastic news! Put the thick quilt on the bed and too hot so had a rough night. Thin quilt going back on tonight! Balmy day here. Lair, Monk, Herd.
  3. It got me in the end, drive home on Monday was a struggle, streaming eyes, heater on flat out but still cold. Home and straight to bed. In bed till lunch yesterday.. Then had a bluey marathon with my two year old while mum was off doing farm work. Improved today, should be able to get some work done. Well done Steve, it's hard work for the dad as well. I remember I made a sandwich when the first one was being born and I didn't get a chance to eat it as I was having my hands crushed. By time it was all over the sandwich was stale and went to the dogs!
  4. And the poor people or people who think they're clever going through skips , burning things like creosoted /tanalised/painted stuff because they are too tight to pay for wood. That happens alot near me and the chimneybsweep now asks what your burning before sweeping the chimney , as he will walk away if its anything bar clean wood burned !

  20. Best before May 2022. I can assure you that's nowt in the grand scheme of things. I'll accept no admonishment on food hygiene from you regardless. You appear to be eating off a baby changing station.
  21. you can get battery powered knapsacks
  22. We see it on here too frequently. Speaking in the context of the wider population, not of Arbtalkers: I reckon we might have reached the inflection point already, where more people get their "news" from socials and AI, rather than actual news agencies. Or "do their own research". This should be in its own thread really, but on AI doing science, I saw this today. Genesis Mission: why Trump’s plan to put AIs in charge of science could backfire THECONVERSATION.COM AI enthusiasts are right that projects like AlphaFold are a huge leap forward, but the philosophy of science shows why...
  23. ?? More relevant to those of us whom live in Scotland including yourself SP, your SNP during their most embarrassing period when they shared power with some green lunatics just to keep a majority position, actually went ahead and did it only to reverse it when the reality of their stupidity became clear. 5 The SNP government has reversed a ban on log burners in new-builds in Scotland, allowing them as both main and secondary heating systems in new homes. This change, effective from April 2024, followed concerns from rural communities who relied on them for heat during power outages. While log burners can now be installed in new buildings, the ban on mains gas and oil boilers as a primary heat source in new builds remains
  24. Apart from the football, this is going to happen more and more often, people taking social medias as the truth and bypassing any checks - there are a few good examples out there. My favourite this month was an AI thing that read over 2 columns in an article and invented a new disease and I think then went on to find a cure for the disease it had invented! No human checks.
  25. Even the Israelis stop a Tel Aviv derby. Maccabi ultras are military trained thugs.
  26. I'm thinking of the bigger picture Davey. You should do the same occasionally. I thought I was fairly obviously talking globally. The UK is hardly known for it's plastics production industry is it? So no, I wasn't presenting you with an opportunity to hyjack yet another decent thread to push one of your tedious agendas. Keep up. AI alert! No need. Pretty sure we all know the ins and outs of burning wood. Given the forum, and even the thread title. You forgot to clip those in SP. As for hijacking a thread, it started off about wood burners and ended up in global plastic pollution πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈdid I complain ??. Shit stirring just like the below comment at the start of your post. β€œwhich I do apologise” Anyway seeing as it’s been dragged down to the normal level, don’t you in reality burn imported coal SP rather than wood ?. I’ll not hold my breath for an answer.
