Do you really think that supermarkets are replacing people with self service checkouts to make food cheaper for us, the consumers? Call me cynical, but I don't think so. Profit is king in the beautiful free market. I'd happily pay a premium on a weekly shop to have the privilege of using a traditional checkout, staffed by a real life human. Food is too cheap anyway. Similarly; do you think that AI is being forced on all of us to make our lives better? I don't, and I don't think I'm being cynical either. Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Trump and the other handful of individuals pushing it out don't strike me as altruistic types. Quite the opposite in fact. We are all very much being forced to adopt a poor AI.

Well, oil is like a drug when you think about it. We know it's bad, yet we struggle to wean ourselves off it.

This is true of many technological advances, initially there is little uptake because of the expense, then a few people with borrowed money and little to lose buy into it. Many fail but the technology doesn't go away so a new batch of entrepreneurs acquire it cheaply, they now undercut the previous businesses in the field who pack up. Look at how harvesters took over in the forestry world. The winners are not the users of the technology but the sellers of it.

In general(those reading this not included 🙄 ) ,humans think of them as the most important "things"/ creatures on this world. Especially those religious lunatics fanatics that believe only what they've been brainwashed since childhood despite the lack of any logic whatsoever! Guess what: you humans are NOT the "most important" creature on this world. Actually ,humans are the most dangerous, destructive, deceitfull animal to ever exist on this world! No other animal ranks even close to humans! At least AI might use some logic, despite eventually developing some "qualities" as humans : say LIES. And for those allready preparing questions for me: no ,I am not anything else but another HUMAN. But a sick and tired of other humans and their everyday behaviour! I ended having more trust in a cat than a human! If AI behaves at least as a cat I'm more than happy with AI present in anything or any branch of present society/world! And at almost 8.3 billion humans, I have to say its enough of how many humans are ALLREADY alive today ,anyway! A few billions more on top of what is present/alive today and we might start killing eachother for a glass of water. Nevermind food or cheap energy... 🙄

This doesn't really bear thinking about: US takes Greenland by force resulting in NATO imploding because Article 5 never contemplated an attack by one NATO country on another. The disintegration of NATO coupled with NATO's weakness without the US removes any inhibitions Putin may have from making a move on the Suwalki Gap then on Poland, leading to a major war in Europe with no possibility of a good outcome. Finally DJT awards himself a big beautiful 'Trump world peace prize' for causing WW3. Not really the retirement I had planned.

Let us make the assumption the the boat drivers want to get home for dinner and not hang out in Florida, and a good nights kip after 50 hours driving their boat. 6G: In the 90s we were told we would all get brain cancers from mobile phone use, likewise from 4G and 5G roll out - 5G was also meant to be spreading Covid if you read the right web pages, and also a method for Bill Gates to control the population. None of these happened. A curious thing to note there was also a rumour that they build the masts, don't turn them on for a couple of months so that all the chancers come out the woodwork trying to blame them for health conditions "sorry, it hasn't been turned on yet". Just another radio signal, high frequency, low power (unlike say the TV signals, lower frequency but much more powerful - example 1 transmitter to cover 40+ miles, opposed to many covering 1 mile each)
