I am about to have to embark on this voip thing as my copper line is removed and I get fibre to the premises. My understanding is the existing landline telephone number gets transferred to a VOIP provider, for about a fiver a month they then direct calls to you over the internet. I think you plug your existing phone into a small box called a voice gateway (I have an old linksys spa3102 but there must be more modern ones). The voip should be catholic about how your internet is provided as long as it is fast enough. Be aware no calls will work during a power cut unless the router is plugged into your inverter UPS.

I'm surprised n one has commented on Mark Carney's speech yesterday, it called out US for what it has been for 80 years. I'm still not sure what sort of democratic process has for appointing a prime minister though, much as I agree with him.

No experience myself, but I did happen to see this recently. There might be some useful information in that thread. https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/threads/starlink.154939/#post-1849984

Has anyone got any experience of using Starlink to operate as a landline using VoIP? I understand it is possible but I am finding it difficult to work out how to go about this. I am sure I could ask a local firm to set it up, but I believe setting up Starlink is very easy. What I want though is to be able to transfer my existing landline business number over to the Starlink broadband. The reason I wish to do this is because the current setup is just so poor and expensive I believe Starlink would be way better. I currently have a copper landline provided by XLN whom I have been with for years and it costs around £100 per month for the line and broadband (terrible speeds making many websites unusable). XLN have even told me that as a legacy copper line the cost is going to go up by 15% per year! I have tried shopping around but as soon as they know the premises everyone declines to get involved. I guess this is because they know it is a long run of poorly maintained copper cable that is not being repaired or upgraded anyone soon. Openreach have surveyed the line with a view to installing fibre, but unless there is a lot of government funding this is not happening anytime soon as we are miles from anywhere. Anyone else tried using Starlink with landline?

Some days I would go 100% asset grabbing and the next 100% narcissism ego boost. Probably in reflection though more ego than assets - coupled with things like renaming the Kennedy Centre he wants to leave his name behind him more than enriching the US. I didn't see all his speech last night, but the highlights were amazing... in his Daily dose of Trump WTFkery. A lot made of mistaking Iceland for Greenland... though I suspect this was a slip of the tongue and he meant Greenland, his mind might also be thinking Iceland too. He sent out a map, colouring in with the US flag Greenland, Canada, the US and Venezuela, which leaves a nice chunk middle south, Mexico, Guatemala.. and of course Cuba sandwiched between the 2.. and he has recently kind of threatened Cuba too. A man of peace. But... empire building too I think. There was his billion dollar peace thing too, didn't see the Europeans fawning over him to join that, and the import taxes (tariffs) for not agreeing to the Greenland sale is quietly being dropped too after he met them... suspect they politely told him where to go with his money making schemes. Billion dollar peace thing... which as the lead he will be creaming off it big time with contracts to his companies, his name all over the world, back to his ego. Yes, ultimate reality TV. I'll see if I can get a spreadsheet or even powerpoint dollars per radian / degree or turbine blade? As for Aliens... yes, probably not invading, we are quite capable of destroying ourselves quite easily.

Hello all, I'm wondering how you price your timber? I'm milling mainly Sitka Spruce and Greenheart for a house, but I'd also like to make a bit of cash selling rough sawn timber. How do you guys price your timber? I could take a punt and just sell it cheaper than the builders yard I guess.

Can anyone remind me if the DVSA will send the necessary paperwork for an age-related licence renewal automatically as my birthday approaches or do I need proactively to obtain the forms? I'm coming up to number 65 and can't remember what happened five years ago. Many thanks,

Hi everyone The chain brake light on my 540i came on so the saw won't run I saw a video on YouTube saying it's most probably the micro switch but it's a complete strip down to get to it. Anyone got any ideas please. Thanks.

Don’t worry about the mowing machines that’s just old-school "Grandfather Rights." If you passed your car test before 1997, you usually have C1 and B+E automatically. You only need the D2/D4 forms if you’re over 70 or applying for a full HGV/Bus license. Since your paper license is gone, just check the "View Driving Licence" page on DVLA website it’ll list your active codes and clear up the confusion in two minutes.

I'd say its 50:50 between grabbing the valuable natural resources and narcissism. The resources only now becoming available because the ice is melting due to the "Green New Scam". His fragile ego was severely damaged when he didn't get the big gold medal last year. Did you see any of the big speech yesterday? It was an ultimate reality TV opportunity. The normal load of old guff: fake news, exaggeration, self-aggrandisement, ("some people say" - lots of stuff). The new standard fodder for world stage events of great significance like this. He talked a lot about windmills, he really doesn't like them. They cost $1000 for every blade rotation I think he said. You could probably knock us up a spreadsheet to show dollars per radian, if you fancy it. He mentioned Iceland a few times as well, which was bizarre. Compare all that to the statesmanship displayed by Mark Carnie the day before. In other news. As well as Blair, Putin and Lukashenko have also now had an invitation to join Trumps latest get-rich-quick real estate scheme. AKA the Gaza Board of Peace. Nice. Big news like this is only now making it into the headlines, with so much other noise flooding the zone. If there are any aliens looking down on us they must be laughing their socks off now.

Twelve years ago the firm issued a 5 year old Movano to a gang around North Birmingham to carry their gear and pull a safetrak on a trailer. I was amazed how they managed, especially considering the miles they did. It must have been interesting pulling away in the wet.

Hello all. What are your thoughts on this one? Photo taken in Jan so must be evergreen, although half of the tree was dead.

I always am concerned about the front wheel drive vans getting traction whilst towing up hills. Yeah I run a lot of older kit, the more regularly used saws are reasonably up to date but the van chipper and even my ms660 all date to the mid 00's. Van is giving me a bit of a headache as it is low power mode, not limp mode. Tractor from late 80's is in the workshop with engine trouble, need some time to investigate further. Will likely be buying a replacement loader tractor as the DB1490 is a bit tired and 2wd, that's if I fix it up and get it running again, so any thoughts of a mog may be on the back burner. I will keep an eye out for a project that may be in my budget price bracket. In the meantime time I will soldier on with my aging set up.
