Of course. But where there isn't enough, the deal is happening on my terms or not happening. That's the approach eggs's contractor is taking. Or maybe he's just dodgy.

Park pruner was the make stanton hope did. As above HBM are the same. You can replace threads but take some getting apart of old, we have just cut end out in the passed.
-
what were/are the poles made of, and what colour are they? A bit more of a description might help.

Got to be a bit of trust in both directions, the customer has a vested interest most times to be available as agreed - they want the stuff doing and if they are out then the stuff isn't done - and the trader wants to do the job to get paid - but both sides have to trust that the other will do as expected, 90% of the time I think that happens. I expect to pay a small premium to the trader to cover their losses if a customer doesn't pay - included as a part of their rates. I'd also go that the trader has probably more experience at reclaiming fees if they arn't paid - small claims court where as the customer probably has no experience claiming for any losses (hiring someone new, taking time off to be in again and so on), the trader has more chance of getting their money back through the legal systems I reckon. Trader also knows where you live - some traders live in a van and vanish as soon as the cash is paid... so back to my first comment, I would see it as a warning that upfront payment is needed. Could build up a conversation with the trader to build your confidence that they will turn up I guess. But... it all comes down to trust.

Do you give a discount for taking away the wood and branches? I know how much you get selling them to B&Q

And for the opposition, what's the guarantee that when the bloke takes the time to come over he doesn't find that eggs has gone to the pub, changed his mind, got someone else in quicker etc and not said anything? People will muck you about like that. Fewer and fewer people are willing to do trade work. Tradesmen are in demand and in strong negotiating positions.

well you can get it for £80. if all you want is a 3 foot sliced by 14inch stump to ground level.

Have a look at HBM poles, they look like the same size and thread as my old set which were probably the same as the Stanton Hope ones, still the most capacity lopper head I've seen. ps I have measured mine and the thread seems to be M26 with a fine thread of either 1.5 or 1.75mm pitch

Thanks Mick . She seems to improve with movement . Also I do give her shoulder some attention . When she is ike this I lift her in and out of the truck rather than let her jump . I have just got back from a medium walk with no obstacles to negotiate , just walking slowly and about half way round she eventually overtakes me . So for her movement seems to improve the situation .

Magnolia getting too large, no I.D. Keep or cut down?
Dan Maynard replied to Little Splodge's question in Homeowners Tree Advice Forum
Well there's obviously some correlation between tree size and root spread, so in theory yes - but there'll still be roots in the lawn, unlikely to do anything structural though. People seem to worry about roots much more than the actual problems they cause. -
I don't understand? If you paid the money upfront, what was your guarantee that he would even show up,let alone inspect it?

Back in the real world, for around the same money some trades wouldn't have bothered with the inspection and got it signed off anyway, so I'm told I on the other hand try to do things the right way.

nepia replied to Little Splodge's question in Homeowners Tree Advice Forum
It's a soulangeana or similar which should stop at about 6-7m tall. As said cutting it back will result in ugly 'lollipop' growth but you can minimise that by cutting back to a strong sideshoot, i.e. small branch. Now is a good time to do it unless the tree is drought stressed due to the weather of the last few months in which case either water it a lot or wait until there's been good sustained rain. For the future regular light pruning is the way to go; that will generate much less ugly reaction. Keep it small, don't make it small. -

James. Why would anyone deliver to you free logs ? It costs in fuel to get to you. The firewood guys pay for good clean wood. The bio-mass guys pay for off cuts. Only the tip charges for disposal of brash ridden branches and scrub. Where is the advantage in dropping off logs to you ? If I could dispose of a 20 x 3.5m Leylandi hedge would you be happy with that ?

Morning, many years ago I bought a sectional set of poles with a saw head, hook and cutter head on it from a company in Basildon in Essex UK called Stanton Hope, unfortunately the company is no longer in existence but I have a problem with some of the poles and want to replace them but I don't know what make they are. Would any screw end poles fit? Or does anybody know the make that the poles were that they sold? Unfortunately I'm unable to get any pictures of the poles as they are in Essex and I'm in Norfolk. I realise my post is a bit vague but I'm hoping someone may have an idea. Thanks

morning, its hard seeing your dogs age, I second an osteopath, it does wonders for us to get put back into place so the same for animals. My eldest boy is home this weekend so its been nice having him home, we had breakfast and did so me chores yesterday and then walked the dog where I gave him a go of the drone, he's always been into things and good with technology then we came home and watched Happy Gilmour 2! I thought it was great, then Chineese for dinner. A proper good day.
