  3. Hurrah, Friday! Another week and the days will be shorter sooner! Off to the garage with new truck and the oil leak, local dealer sacked through there teeth and said 'cannot look at it for a month'. Sandicliffe are crap since they went6 multi depot, multi franchise! Football looked pretty crap last night, and load of my time I'll never get back.... Hell, Sink, Quay.

  8. Cinnabar Moth, not unusual here as it goes. Edit, caterpillars feed on ragwort apparently so they do well here.
  9. Bring Cole in for Foden from the start. I am a huge fan of Kane, but listening to both Shearer and Lineker criticise his performance has made me think.

  13. Even if we wanted to (we don’t) has a TPO on it, so not an option. Good suggestion on the cherry tree - we have one in the front garden.
  14. 40ft well established tree, about 30 yrs old.
  15. ‘Job done, solid point, blah blah blah’. What on earth has Gallagher got to offer when you look at our bench?
  16. Good advice, thank you both. I’ll check the wording of my policy. I’ll probably say, all or nothing and leave it up to them to sort… it’s a headache I can see coming back to me. Appreciate the opinion on its longevity… the picture doesn’t do it justice though, it’s a chunky monkey with a hell of a one sided lean on it, else I wouldn’t by second guessing what to do…
  17. Or you could cut the sycamore down and replace it with a nice apple or cherry tree, just a thought 😀
  18. Thinking on this a bit more. Is it a small tree, a sampling? If so the chilli idea could probably work. In the form of a semi hardening paste though. Something like flour and water or maybe wallpaper paste. With a load of chilli powder or flakes mixed in. You could then apply it to the effected branches in a thick layer and then it should stay there for a number of days, even if it rains. (As long as it had time to harden first). If you buy the chilli in bulk, a 500g, or 1kg bag say, it'll be quite cheap. Much more so than Tabasco.
  19. No, I would say it will not damage the tree. On the other hand, it probably won't deter the squirrels for long either unfortunately. Most of it will be washed off as soon as it rains. I feel your frustration: squirrels are an absolute menace, to put it politely. What's more, Sycamore is one of their favourite trees to attack in this way. Aside from a more heavy handed solution, I'm not sure what else to suggest to help here.
  20. Our Sycamore has suffered quite a bit of damage this year as a result of squirrels chewing off the bark to get to the softer and sweeter flesh. it was suggested that we spray the branches with Tabasco diluted in water, to deter the squirrels. Will the Tabasco harm the tree?
  21. Looking for a giant pile of wood chips to cover a huge chunk of my allotment. Happy to take as many as you can give us. We're available most of the week at most times so call us and we can arrange a time. thanks
  22. For your peace of mind you might get him to get a doctors note confirming he is fit to work for you. Shouldn't be a problem, if he cuts himself might need bigger plasters or bandages and anything that is an ambulance job is an ambulance job regardless.
  23. See, if you ignore whatever biodynamics says about the phases of the moon or only stirring your preparations clockwise (counter clockwise in the southern hemisphere, obviously) or a few other choice bits of comedy, there are some decent ideas in there. The cow horn thing is a great way of transferring any number of beneficial organisms from one soil biota to another, if you bury the horns in the right place (a healthy forest or an established organic growing space, that sort of thing), and then you sprinkle the resulting preparation around wherever it needs it... a newly-created growspace with imported soil, anywhere with shagged-out soil, somewhere recovering from chemical pollution etc. But yeah, you really have to cherry pick the worthwhile bits of the biodynamic thing.
  24. Is he an arsehole like the 99 percent of machine operators? 🤔
