  3. This was a very special bit of a treat, I only bought a couple of bottles a long time ago but it looks like its not available anymore. Very strong but a unique ale. Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter | Virgin Wines WWW.VIRGINWINES.CO.UK Black in colour with a brown head - this turbo charged porter is rich and malty with intense roasted flavours. The Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter has intense chocolate aromas which...
  4. I do like roast pheasant, never tried roast reindeer tbh. Ill give it a go though when I buy a bigger house.
  5. Samaritans are worth a phone call if you need to vent. 116 123
  6. "A mate of mine at work went to his local group and said it really helped him to get out of a hole." "Problem is men dont talk, then its too late ..its never easy recovering a body and explaining to family" The hardest task I can ever do in life is to open that door handle and say 'hello, I'd appreciate some help'. My own stubbornness may (-will) one day be my undoing.
  7. Anybody got any decent alder near South Wales? I am not super fussy: most alder logs are good as long as they are the first and second lengths. I could use a lorry load or a mixture with other hardwoods such as ash sycamore, cherry or most things really.
  8. Today
  9. Something I've battled with all my life unfortunately. I hadn't had a drink for a month up until Tuesday this week I just had to do something to try and lift my frame of mind yet you feel worse after it.
  10. +1 for binning the alcohol. There's plenty of decent alcohol free options now, which are worth a go
  11. I like to think Big J would chime in around now to remind us it only rains Dom Pérignon in Sweden but alas, it seems he's gone. Was it the darkies or motorists he didn't like on here?
  12. And I do like this Brian James tipper. Well designed.
  13. I still think you can’t beat a GH1054 for moving a 2.7t digger around. On my second now and would have another currently. But Ifor’s flatbed/beavertail range is stuck in the dark ages. Not changed since the 90s! My new Nugent is far better built- well worth the £800 ish extra.
  14. that has given me an idea for an app vicarious suffering on demand VSOD feeling unhappy with your lot - watch footage of someone being blown up by a land mine, or dying of syphilis, being beaten by a Sudanese militia, starving for months on end etc. All the worst suffering in the world at your fingertips. Sunshine on a rainy day
  15. Two good points. I don't care about the lead. I'm indestructible. Never memorably found any steel shot in a bird. Would care if I did though. My teeth aren't indestructible.
  16. seeing as it's raining,,

  18. I bought a Brian James 3.5 tonne ‘Diggerplant’ trailer to add to a fleet of 2.7 tonne IW GH94 plant trailers (only because I’d fallen out with Ifor Williams over a warranty issue and thought I’d spend the extra money on a ‘premium’ rival instead). It was the single worst trailer I’ve ever bought - had to be welded up multiple times after snapping across the tub and only ever carried a 1.8 tonne tracked chipper. From new the brake cables were suspended below with long, hanging cable ties (even though there were cutouts in the chassis to route them through). The ramp supports never touched the ground and couldn’t be adjusted (hence the broken tub I guess?). It went in to the dealers for its first ‘free’ service at 500/1000 miles (I don’t remember which, but thought it a nice touch at the time - it was less than a month old when I took it in) and they presented me with a £500 bill upon collection for a brake light lense and new jockey wheel (the ridiculous original jockey wheel folded up in a lovely fashion but shat itself in the first week when used with a loaded trailer - I asked for it to be replaced with something ‘normal’ but didn’t anticipate having to remortgage my house for the pleasure). Total crap, I wouldn’t entertain anything made by those shysters. Have since bought 5 more Ifors (3 GH plant trailers) as well as a Bateson tiltbed and they are all head and shoulders above the BJ.
  19. If found the group better than the nhs , nhs was good at one point , but now they've gone woke -you open up and the councillors go running -they cant cope with death, flipping pathetic. And last time I spoke to them they said they couldn't help due to funding - after that they said 'is tye anything else I can do to help'? I said what would u do if I said id self harm or worse , the reply was silent... I just said pathetic hunts and hung up . Alot of the guys are on a broad spectrum , I thought id dispise it due to not liking to integrate, I carry people and I see alot of people as weak, not wanting to help themselves. Yet people failure freshold is many levels , mines high . Problem is men dont talk, then its too late ..its never easy recovering a body and explaining to family
  20. Twenty years ago (jesus christ...) three of us went out in Ipswich. I went home with a girl to help her put up some shelves. My mates went to a nightclub. Six the next morning I skulk back to my mate's house to pick up my work stuff. Rather than finding them peacefully abed, I find chaos. My mate's mum is shouting at my other mate through the bathroom door. Apparently they'd both been doing this for a while. I effected entry and discovered said mate had been sitting on the loo until he passed out and blocked the door with his head. The mess was horrific. I can recall it now with all of my senses. I wish I couldn't. Being christmas, I wrapped him in swaddling clothes (all the towels), bundled him into the bath and declared my involvement over. His mum and dad had to come and collect him and his car that afternoon, where he still wasn't capable of much. He swore blind his drink was spiked.
  21. I had assumed it would be easier to pull the whole shrub then cut and feed a chipper. So cut and chip then go over the ground to pull roots is better?
  22. Certainly a lot quicker I expect. Another thing is the fact that it's not "professionals", just normal blokes you're talking to means you're all on a similar level. Much easier for them to relate to what you're saying, and vice versa. A mate of mine at work went to his local group and said it really helped him to get out of a hole.
  23. Well done for sharing Les, that’s a huge step. I’ve never had depression as such, but feel ‘down’ now and again, usually when work/money isn’t great. I normally just click on the last scene from Blackadder Goes Forth and everything comes into perspective. We’ve really got it pretty easy compared to those poor lads over 100 years ago. As others have said, we’re all here for you in here whenever you want to talk/rant/vent. Avoid the political threads, though. They are depressing!
  24. Ha, I was going to put this up, you beat me to it, from my experience a lot better than steps to well being through the nhs
