Genuine question . All those that are worried about Trump and take every opportunity to moan and bash the tango man… What actually has he done that has affected you personally and your day to day lives?

Hi all, I'm a complete beginner trying to get into arborism and have recently done the climbing and aerial rescue course, for which I used borrowed climbing kit. I'm now in the process of buying my own climbing kit so that I can get as much practice in as possible before doing the aerial chainsaw course. With the borrowed kit, in terms of friction devices I had a Zigzag Plus on one system and just a prusik knot on the other. I really liked the Zigzag and ideally would buy two so I could have one on each rope, but I can't afford that at the mo so I'm wondering what I could use on my 2nd rope as an alternative to that or just a prusik. I actually got on ok with the prusik but is there anything else I could use instead that's relatively inexpensive (i.e. £100 or less) but would be nicer to climb on/save energy etc?

I didnt do the track and trace stuff. Is it still here? I remember all the conspiracy theories back then, this is how we are going to live, you wont be able to do this that or the other without a jab. We will be in and out of lockdown forever. That didnt age well now did it.

Perceived wisdom is that having a super abundance of seeds one year and then a dearth of seed for a few years is so that species that feed on the seeds die down in the years of famine and then cannot expand their populations in the mast year fast enough to consume all of the glut, so some seeds are left to germinate as the next generation. If you have more frequent mast years as the climate conditions change then the predator populations increase. Having avoided the death bed by not smoking I wonder what cravings are left. I seem to have lost the ability to intersperse a reply into the original text.

What's the normal Mast Year talk - that it predicts a harsh winter? Probably bollox if so, I agree. More likely that a mast year is just a reflection of a harsh summer, i.e. too hot and dry. Trees feel threatened so go all out to produce the next generation. Can't blame them, what would we want on our death beds, other than a last cigarette?

I think you're right, they can't request that. Being charitable, maybe it's not clear on the application if the tree has TPO - reality the application go to an admin person in planning department who knows nothing about trees. Theory I guess is reduce workload on TO but sometimes they say something daft.

Blackberries were crazy early this year in Kent. Sloes and Damsons fruited really well. Local vineyards started picking mid September, which is early. Acorn/conker crop is normal. They're probably exceptions though, unless you can suggest anything else that he's done to benefit us, the average hardworking people, or the planet? It's a shame that Trump couldn't personally be a bit more assertive with his best friend Putin, rather than bringing him in from the cold with the red carpet treatment.
