  1. Past hour
  2. To quote another member “ Obfuscation “ alert ‼️ Care to explain how you see this actually working. I’ll try again eh seeing as you are struggling. So you are now saying it’s actually to stop them working once here and not actually deter illegal cross border immigration 🤷‍♂️ Are you that naive to believe that those hiring or working illegally won’t continue to do so.
  3. Wanting (desperately needing) a new harness. Been down the honey bros in Guildford few weeks ago but didn’t have any Tree Austria’s ready for me to try. Just come back from the new forest on a road trip family holiday and dropped in to their store and again didn’t have any. Tried the notch catalyst which was comfy, then a DMM which was uncomfortable and 500 quid. Climbed off a treehog harness for a couple years then my current Skylotec which is nice but old as hell. Anyone have experience with the TreeAustria? Cheers
  4. at first glance i thought someone had been doing a spot of chainsaw carving

  6. it won't take long for them to make forgeries for the rubber boat people
  7. That's the problem, a couple of days back, seems like a lifetime, you got totally lost when I quoted you and got all het up thinking I said it when it was your words. Just a bit of preamble to set the scene. Right, ID cards and why the government are introducing them. Here's a screenshot of the reason, as you seem to like a screenshot... the important part is "to work in the UK " not as you said (this is your quote)... "So all of us who live here legally already with NI numbers and multiple forms of Verifiable ID being mandated to carry digital identification will stop those crossing the channel “illegally” " Can you see the difference?
  8. That will act about as close to a zigzag as you’ll get
  9. Valdotain. Few quid for hitch cord, 2 karabiners and a hitch climber, can be had for under £100
  10. Genuine question . All those that are worried about Trump and take every opportunity to moan and bash the tango man… What actually has he done that has affected you personally and your day to day lives?
  11. Hi all, I'm a complete beginner trying to get into arborism and have recently done the climbing and aerial rescue course, for which I used borrowed climbing kit. I'm now in the process of buying my own climbing kit so that I can get as much practice in as possible before doing the aerial chainsaw course. With the borrowed kit, in terms of friction devices I had a Zigzag Plus on one system and just a prusik knot on the other. I really liked the Zigzag and ideally would buy two so I could have one on each rope, but I can't afford that at the mo so I'm wondering what I could use on my 2nd rope as an alternative to that or just a prusik. I actually got on ok with the prusik but is there anything else I could use instead that's relatively inexpensive (i.e. £100 or less) but would be nicer to climb on/save energy etc?
  12. I didnt do the track and trace stuff. Is it still here? I remember all the conspiracy theories back then, this is how we are going to live, you wont be able to do this that or the other without a jab. We will be in and out of lockdown forever. That didnt age well now did it.
  13. It is inevitable, if every prick roles over and accepts it like they did with Covid.
  14. Trump?! You must be on the windup.
  15. True but that looked like jobs for the boys, was it £35 billion ish spunked on a useless private company when the nhs could have provided a better service for less money. They already had a track and trace system in place. I appreciate the info from all of the above on the id card stuff. It looks like its inevitable which lets be honest, its going to happen globally at some point. I dont understand the argument that it will cut down on illegal immigration, how will it? And people who use cash in hand employees will continue to do so ID card or not.

    Mast

Perceived wisdom is that having a super abundance of seeds one year and then a dearth of seed for a few years is so that species that feed on the seeds die down in the years of famine and then cannot expand their populations in the mast year fast enough to consume all of the glut, so some seeds are left to germinate as the next generation. If you have more frequent mast years as the climate conditions change then the predator populations increase. Having avoided the death bed by not smoking I wonder what cravings are left. I seem to have lost the ability to intersperse a reply into the original text.
  17. Is this the point at which I tell him he needs a 251, and I just happen to have a lovingly cared for immaculate example, one careful owner? 🤔 If your pockets are deep enough, you can't go wrong with a 261, cracking saw. List price of that is within £10 of a 391, and I know which one I'd rather have.
  18. Emails are amateur local league stuff. It's all about digital photos and videos if you really want to max out the clouds.
  19. You wouldn’t want to cut it with a strimmer!

    Mast

What's the normal Mast Year talk - that it predicts a harsh winter? Probably bollox if so, I agree. More likely that a mast year is just a reflection of a harsh summer, i.e. too hot and dry. Trees feel threatened so go all out to produce the next generation. Can't blame them, what would we want on our death beds, other than a last cigarette?
  21. There's an official guidance document, in the past I've emailed that back, quoted the example wording on the planning portal, and asked them to show me what guidance they are working to so I can submit something acceptable if what I put in is wrong. Application validated.
  22. Good bit of kit, petrol power option. Zero hands on the return, better than one hand, stop height set on rod at the back.
  23. Try it from here then https://www.jaspwilson.co.uk/product/posch-8t-firewood-log-splitter/
  24. Heavier for the same power though. Look at the 391 anchor.
  25. I think you're right, they can't request that. Being charitable, maybe it's not clear on the application if the tree has TPO - reality the application go to an admin person in planning department who knows nothing about trees. Theory I guess is reduce workload on TO but sometimes they say something daft.
