  1. Past hour
  2. I'm 57. Only climbing/working 2/3 days a week now. On the odd occasion that I do a full week, I'm shattered. I don't know how fit I am, but I've a body used to it. Also consider, it will be a while before you establish yourself and start making profit. If you're considering setting up on your own, the initial outlay on equipment is very expensive. Maybe test the water first. Plenty of companies looking for groundies. Unless you have a particular passion for trees/ Tree work, I think in your position, I'd be looking to retrain in something with a bit more longevity. At best, you'd be lucky to get 8-10 years, before you're knackered.
  3. Tell me your body weight and how high you are?

  6. There is an agency which notifies everyone of a death, which can save a lot of time and grief, but occasionally, it has a negative effect. It transpire that as he is dead, they take his details off the ownership but do not automatically add his widow in case he has left it to someone else. Therefore it has no owner, but they list it as 'sold'. Sorted with a phone call though. But it gave time for the twat who shook on it to swerve!
  7. Pick the apples to reduce the weight then gently prop it back as above
  8. I’d say that’s too old.
  9. Today

  12. I quit climbing at 40. Nearly 50 now and couldn’t imagine starting in this career at that age. Some do it though to be fair. theres far easier ways to make money at 50
  13. See how loose it is and then attempt to stake after straightening it up ,if it won't lift up again then support it with the lean with a natural crutch
  14. 10 year old tree on dwarf root stock blown over last night. Laden with apples. Best solution? (Other than cut it down)

  17. Good Morning all, just joined today and would like some sound advice if anyone can help. Abit about myself, I am ex military and have been working overseas doing security for the last 20 years. Over the past year I have been considering hanging up my gun belt and looking at retraining myself for work back in U.K. only issue is I am 50 this year but still fit for my age. if anyone can help I’d like some advice on is it worth it retraining to become a arborist at my age or have I left it to late. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  22. Mornin’ all. Igor has taken to random sustained barking in the night (and day but that’s not an issue) so been up since 4.30 with him so at least the missus can sleep. Getting the new ranger sign written today. Then handing over the old one to the new owner, who happens to be my Brother-in-Law, which makes things easier. Lad will be splitting wood this morning.
  23. I'm up as she is up! She only had a couple of hours then she has gym thing! Dedication! Some more job type jobs for me and I'll take her t'pub later! Tosser who shook hands on her Dad's car did a swerve which gets right up my nose, his number is blocked and it is advertised again..... Duly, Hand, Ruse.

  26. I admire your faith in humanity Mark Bolam but in reality no we aren’t. A quite frankly unbelievable level of hypocrisy from the very two people who showed their true colours when the news broke of the death of a man whom they disagreed with politically. Or in one liars case a man he claimed to have not heard of until an β€œhour before” yet still managed to come to the judgement he posted below. Mark J’s words. He was a prick, stirred up a load of trouble and paid for it. You reap what you sow. Karma always collects. That post was liked instantly by the utter hypocrite Steven P.
