  1. Past hour
  2. Allegedly its a ramp, incase the horse that pulled the boat fell in the cut. It's an oddball, I've never seen anything like it elsewhere, perhaps Canal Navy can shed some light on it.
  3. Could it be for wildlife, so creatures that get into the canal can get out again? No that is an awful lot of engineering to be just a ramp for daft mammals. Do you know?

  5. Today
  6. Absolutely correct. However, personally, I haven't found any advantage running at level 3, and I didn't think I could detect a performance improvement. I've seen Youtube videos where it cut faster on level 2, and I wonder if it's a question of the battery needing to be absolutely in tip top form to cope with the presumably higher current drain. Again, it's only empirical, but at level 2 it seems to me to almost pull in extra power when it's made to work hard. I've seen cordless drills where simply putting a higher capacity battery on allowed higher performance, which seems to fit that theory. As an aside to what someone posted elsewhere, when using my MSA 300 in cold weather, the battery performance went through the floor. Enough to make me change to the 261 for a time.
  7. Not great pics as I missed the last ten feet but top branches were black inside and like cork. About six foot up from the base there was an internal split and hollow area. They reckoned a couple of years and it would have been unstable. thanks for all your advice.
  8. The Electric Cool Aid Acid test by Tom Wolfe. It tells the storey of the Merry Prankster and Ken Kesey and their β€˜Bus’ tour along with the house band - The Grateful Dead.
  9. I remember at one festival They had morfed into " The Grateful Rolling Airoplane " as described by someone who I can't remember .

  11. One of my favourite bands. I have quite few of the Dead albums. One of the quirkiest things I have experienced was out snowboarding in a space cowboy town (at least it was them) called Telluride in 1998. Telluride was famous for having a national Bluegrass festival and in September they have, or used to have, an annual mushroom harvest and 3 days music festival. The Dead played there numerous times. The town was a homage to stoners and the deli in town was called β€˜Baked in Telliride’. We would go in for lunch of pastries and coffee. The local radio station, Telliride FM was constantly on the radio. They would play a lunch time show called the Grateful Dead hour. It ran from 11.00 till 13.00. Probably to take into account one of Jerry’s spontaneous 10 minutes guitar solos πŸ€ͺ
