They're not actually new, they're remanufactured late classic Defenders. JLR isn't allowed to build new classic Defenders because they're non-compliant with current legislation so they bought significant numbers of low-mileage late (2015/2016) vehicles and rebuild them. Your £250k limited edition is actually at least 10 years old and technically second-hand. All the post-2016 factory limited editions have been like this.

You're right, universities and colleges will take what you learnt home schooled and some will give greater credit for it since you have to generally do that off your own initiative, and learn rather than be force fed facts, if that is where they want to go. (Progressive) employers should or could be persuaded the same. If you wanted to look at it seriously for the younger one as well, there are home education groups, cooperatives or whatever where parents can work together. More options that way what they learn, based more in the parents interest rather than a central curriculum set by the school or county.

I'm still running that 461, what you're describing doesn't sound like yours is really running right. Maybe it hasn't done enough work to really wake up, but start with basics - air filter needs cleaning quite often, clean drum/clutch area. Maybe you've had oil leak around the pump so clutch slipping? Last thing would be carb but could need a tune. The 572 came out later but shouldn't embarrass a 461

Decent hard working parents are struggling enough to pay their way in the current situation. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to have one parent at home constantly as in times gone by. Uni is not for everyone, vocational skills training is sadly lacking as are apprenticeships with the level of deindustrialising ( due in no small part to our astronomical energy costs) we see in the UK. I’ve told the facts of what happened with the change in demographics and make up of the teams post Brexit to the firm whom mobs up and does the welding etc for us on vessels. Pre Brexit zero apprentices post Brexit numerous. Primary reason was a lack of cheap agency Eastern European labour. But that’s me being racist apparently.

I have a green mech quad trac 160 that the feed roller stopped working,so I changed the solenoid,still nothing, swapped the plugs and will work off the out plug, I’m not getting 12v to the plug , any idea what to check next ?.

I rate my Jo-Beau M300 highly. Not my main chipper, but as said by many great fro rear garden access problems. The feed aperture is wide and is easy to get awkward curved stuff through. Takes a little while to learn what it will take, and how to hold it back when the blades are newly sharp and "greedy". Build quality is excellent, and Honda engine. Worth paying the extra for rotating discharge spout.

In principle I totally agree. What they teach at school is such a small aspect of what could be taught. And yes of course parents could work together to educate kids. As long as kids get good English and good numeracy they could then study a million things that will never lead to a GCSE. Of course if they do ever want to do a degree they will need to work towards that at some point. Of course A levels are not the only thing that count towards Uni. My youngest got his first batch of UCAS points when he was eleven due to his guitar playing. Mind you I doubt I will encourage my youngest to go to Uni. Apprenticeship yes, Uni maybe not.

Wouldn't that be just 'school' then with different teachers..... However point to note, get them all home schooled, take control to teach them what you want and with the values you want - there is no minimum criteria of what to teach, no minimum standards so long as they are getting 'an education'*... and once a week get them all together in a church hall or something to socialise and do group work * If you think it would be in their interests 'an education' could be business management such as learning how to do a small business admin side of things (yours....), practical skills such as mechanical skills (saw maintenance...), add in some English (or Welsh) and maths exams, and some practical skills (ground work, tree climbing...).. it is an education

Didn’t realise 441 and 461 were any more or less square. I was between a 461 and a 500i. Got the 500i. Occasionally worry I’ll one day not be able to repair it like a 461 but to be honest I’ve had my money out of it now anyway and it’s been broadly fine.

Nobody sane IMHO would pay £250k for a 16 year old (minimum) preowned Defender that cost 1/10th of that amount new. The fact that they can make these and be oversubscribed tells me that all is not well with the human race.

Shouldn’t those basics be a given with good parenting. Id much rather my kids were taught the core subjects and or additional practical skills that will help in life. Not the absolute shite that that the SNP and sexual deviants like SP/TA condone and actively promote up here in Scotland ie a male double rapist can identify as a woman and that’s ok, put him in a female prison 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ffs it’s just sheer lunacy.
