  1. As a friend once said.. "Some people pursue a life quite different, only to find out it's not really what they wanted after all.. And some people are ****************ing hardcore." (He is the latter, giving up a well-paid plant mechanic job to go home to Texas to start up doing on-site machinery repairs in the oilfield.) As Sam said, we don't know her. If it's something she wants to do i would only offer her encouragement and good luck. She needs to do and see it for herself, and i'm sure she'll deal with whatever the outcome is. I gave up an "easy" 50k a year job on the AA to pursue a life as a tree surgeon in France. Covid has put a significant dent in those plans but i'll get there one day. It's better to go and find out for yourself rather than spend the rest of your life wondering what could've been. If it doesn't work out we pick up and move on. Sam has more interest, enthusiasm and willingness to learn than guys i work with, in their early 20s who are working as tree surgeons, getting trained. She has the drive and determination, best of luck to her. She'll see the industry in time and can make her own judgement on whether it's right for her. (As much as i enjoy the work and being outdoors, when it rains i want to be a welder, working inside in the dry.) It is, moreso as i worked as a mechanic for 13 years, the last 3 at the AA doing breakdowns. We could've been towed back to the yard, i could've got my van and trailer, loaded up the work van, taken it home and banged a clutch in it by 5pm. Oh well! You'll get there, stay positive and determined. Someone will see the potential in you as a tree surgeon and realise the asset you can be. 💪🏻
  2. I will trade you all of my bad days! (You can have today to start with, it was boring.) 😛
  3. Yep, stood around outside for 5 hours waiting. The two other guys stood around outside with the chipper by J26 for hours too. Ridiculous. Beautiful little fox! 😍
  4. 4+ hours later they tell me they have the wrong clutch and flywheel and it won't be ready today. Hitched a lift home, got to go back tomorrow and collect it when done. Should've had it recovered home and done it myself.
  5. Wishful thinking. Recovery truck turned up, no tow bar. Our office have told us to dump the chipper on the road and leave the other two guys to guard it until i get back. (After new clutch is fitted.) Couldn't make it up. 😂
  6. Apparently we're getting recovered to Mr Clutch so they can bang a new one in while we wait. Productive day.
  7. Today we were supposed to do 3 jobs including a eucalyptus takedown, but our clutch went on the M25 so we're now sat in a layby waiting to get recovered. It's going to be a long day.
  8. I thought it was common knowledge. They don't have the torque, i'd rather have an old dog like my mate's 2003 TW150.
  9. L&S are really good and really helpful. I ordered a 550XP brake handle recently, said out of stock and 5-7 days for delivery, arrived in 2 days. Their customer service is great too.
  10. I do enjoy watching videos of people winching trees over with a single line. As you said, two points so it won't rock to the side.
  11. Like the times i've tried to drop start my 3120 and forgotten to press the poof button. Let me just casually put my shoulder back in its socket..
  12. It's a TimberWolf. It'll rattle itself to pieces whatever you do with it. 😂 We have 3 of them and i frequently have new and exciting faults to fix.
  13. Two tirfors? What kind of a Land Rover owner are you? Old bit of rope, 4 Low, pull 'er over. Quick tidy up and home by 5 to weld in a few new patches on your chassis that rotted out since you left this morning. 😂
  14. Maybe all manufactured by someone setup for casting lots of air-cooled 4-strokes? Or if it's a plated bore maybe something to do with the machining and plating of the bore. Simpler to machine a through tube than a closed one?
  15. Is it one of those ooooold skool ones? I've seen a few 2-strokes with separate jugs and heads, but 2-strokes are definitely not my area.
  16. Couldn't tell his arse from a hole in the ground. 😂
  17. He was too busy trying to locate the head gasket.
  18. Is it just bumping up the max revs by moving the limiter stop screw on the injector pump?
  19. One of of our TW230s did all its belts a couple weeks ago and it was left until today to fix it as another chipper's down. "You going to drag that down the yard and do it in the unit?" Sod pulling that thing 150' through chip and mess, picked it up with the digger.
  20. You should be able to claim back the chipper rental from the insurance.
  21. If you scroll up Khriss has a wake up call for you! 😂 (Just kidding!)
