  1. I'm jealous. I ran the Vermeer 925 with a bucket. Only thing i found was that it was too small compared to the machine's lifting capacity. It could lift probably 5 times what the bucket would hold, so a lot of scooting back and forth.
  2. Aren't most like that? When i bought packs of files i was going to try Vallorbe/Pferd branded ones but it was quick and easy to add the Stihl ones onto an oder i was already making so went with them. So far so good, maybe when i've killed all 18 of them i'll try another brand. 😛
  3. Those are really nice features built in. Makes it even more useful. The one i ran had a homemade attachment with a tow ball and rails for forks, but better if the tow ball is actually on the machine and you don't need to drag an extra attachment around. There's a whole positive knock-on effect. You can move larger (often huge) pieces faster so not only is it shifted quicker but bigger pieces means less cutting and less clean-up. Overall productivity is that of multiple workers.
  4. To be fair at one point it went full circle back to chippers. And then straight off the rails again! And busy rewiring the trailer plug, welding up the hopper hinges and duct taping the plastic sides back together. Was just looking at their Combi 200. Love the idea of the infeed conveyor but it's £30k. 😭
  5. Yes, Vallorbe are really good. I think i just got a duff one in that set, i can't remember if the other two are good. All my Vallorbe flat files work fine. I think the Stihl files are made by Pferd, as they're maked made in Germany. (Pferd make excellent products too, i have a lot of their carbide burrs.)
  6. How often are you buying drugs? 😂 Seem well versed in it.. 🤔 Probably like the Essex Boys' Range Rover, a right mess. Guy i know who can't seem to shake the powder gets it from an Uber driver. Used to know someone who sold it disguised as a courier driver. Delivered right to your door!
  7. In living expenses, yes. When i was at the AA our London Weighting was 3,500/year which went nowhere to covering the additional cost of living. Yesh, it's a relatively easy job and the bus companies pay for their licence too. Basic + bonus or OTE is a scam. Unacheivable targets, insufficient work load to fill the hours. As Eggs said, if a company offers pay in a bracket they'll never pay you the max in the bracket, best you can hope for is the middle. I'm actually not far from Croxley but currently unqualified. 21k a year isn't very appealing and who knows how long it'd take to get paid closer to 30k..
  8. Bus drivers earn more. Also, Croxley and the surrounding areas are expensive. I used to live in Watford/Leavesden and 21k won't go far around there.
  9. Good thing someone left that car there to cushion its fall! (Bet the insurance will call that an act of god and refuse to pay out.)
  10. That's a lot of money to buy 2 machines. I can't comment on any of the other machines but the Vermeer i used was used both on-site and in the yard. Moving and stacking logs and chip, dragging chippers and trailers, etc. Find the one machine that ticks all boxes.
  11. Same here. It was unusually still yesterday then blew a gale and lashed it down all night. I hope not here. Last time it snowed my car slid into a wall and smashed the wing. ☹
  12. 572 is the same. Significantly louder than any of my other saws or any that i've used. Bloody deafening.
  13. My best present was lockdown, so i didn't have to spend the day with my know-it-all brother in law.
  14. An older saw, i can understand. But a 40-year-old saw not so much. Then add in the cost of parts and hassle of retrofitting the chainbrake. You can get older pro/farmer saws on eBay easily, lots of good used robust saws. I've bought 7 saws off eBay so far, only 2 were new, no issues. What bar/displacement do you need and what's your budget?
  15. If you have a use for it, use it. You won't sell it for enough to buy a new 661 to replace it. I would hazard a guess it's worth £500-600? Suppose the 500i is a closer replacement by bar capacity and displacement. 🤔
  16. You'll be impressed by the vermeer. Really nice solid piece of kit.
  17. Dunno mate, probably a mix of oil and rainwater. That machine had sat a few weeks unused, that was the second attempt at getting it started too.
  18. DPFs are always made out like the devil but they're actually a very good technology for reducing emissions. Fixed-RPM engines are much less likely to have issues with their DPFs. The sub-750kg is largely only for those who don't have a trailer licence, and i don't really get that as it's not a big deal to get a trailer licence. My old job paid for mine. Interesting, hopefully i'll get to try one some time. Sounds like a really nice machine. 37bhp is a fair bit of power.
  19. Dunno what you're talking about mate..
