  1. Absolutely. You need to stand out to keep people coming back. Anyone can do a crap or mediocre job. It's not my way of doing things, i'm quite particular about how i do my work (previously a mechanic) and i hate lazy sub-par crap work. Yes, it's mostly done for them. His grass there is well and truly ruined. Quite a shame to leave the place in that state. ☹
  2. Tip of the iceberg! Apparently he's rotovating it so he's not fussed, but i agree, it should've been left as it was when we arrived.
  3. They have maybe 3 or 4 plastic track mats and maybe a dozen boards, they rarely get used. You're right though, it would make it easier and would make for a much better job. It's not my choice to not use them.
  4. Garden centres have been told to keep all plants locked up securely, they can't leaf anything outside.
  5. I'm gonna go with Β£2,100 per annum.
  6. You spelled "apprentice" wrong. πŸ˜›
  7. At what point do you stop being labour only? Providing your own equipment?
  8. Unimog not doing it for you? You need a Zetros:
  9. When i worked in freight and had my own company this is what i was told too. I had to have employer's liability to cover anyone working for me. (As in assisting me, not doing my work in their own vehicle.) Even if they were self employed or just helping they would fall under "employed" and as such i needed to provide the insurance to cover them.
  10. I got my friend an elephant for his room. He said "Thanks." I said "Don't mention it."
  11. Today we went stump grinding. Job had been underestimated, as we had a 7' redwood stump to grind with some other small stuff. Took the best part of 7 hours to get the whole thing done, skid steer tore the arse out of the garden. Huge pile of cutting to be picked up tomorrow by our grab lorry. I thought we'd have a load of extra length loading the two on my 18' trailer, but it took it all up. They have some beautiful redwoods here. First time i've knowingly seen them in person, really stunning. And bloody huge!
  12. "You'll never take me alive!" Oh, wait..
  13. Y'say that, but i used to always leave my phone in the van and a few weeks ago my mate stuffed a saw into his forearm and i had to frantically dash to the van to get my phone so i could call an ambulance. Now it's in my pocket all the time again. Combi spanner and a filing kit! (Most of our guys can't file a chain to save their lives.) We do all that for one of the borough councils. Mind numbing.
  14. Yeah. I didn't really look at them before, just saw on Sam Turner for some reason.
  15. Yeah, i'm talking inc VAT.
  16. I lied, 1299 for powerhead only. STIHL MS 881 Professional Petrol Chainsaw WWW.SAM-TURNER.CO.UK STIHL Chainsaws available from Sam Turner & Sons | STIHL MS... I'm sure it can be had cheaper, HoneyBros do it 1305 with a 30" bar, apparently we get 30% off with them.
  17. No i had a bacon, egg and hash brown sandwich. Aiming for a heart attack by 43.
  18. Awww look at his little face! 😍
  19. Fitness mate, my lunchbox is empty because i spend all my money on bloody chainsaws!
  20. More like a raspberry mate some days. 14 years of lifting gearboxes and 2 car accidents, my back's not great. Used to be stronger, but it's coming back slowly.
  21. Yeah, if milling is the priority then go straight to the 881. Can be had for about 1200 i think, which i didn't think was bad for what it is. If you're handling it every day you won't need a gym membership!
  22. Well done! Glad you finally got your chance, hope it's the start of something great for you. 'Atta girl! πŸ˜‰
  23. It'd have to be massive stuff! We felled a big beech the other day and using an 880 it was just so heavy and awkward. Used a 661 instead and even that knackered my arms! They get heavy real quick.
  24. You hadn't to, didn't you? It was almost civil until you brought that up.
