  1. “What bombers?” – The brave WWII ‘anti-Blitzers’ who stood up to Government bombing hoax NEWSTHUMP.COM During 1940 and 1941, huge numbers of British people complied with Government blackout orders to protect themselves from the so-called ‘Blitz’.
  2. Depends What’s your BMI? How much hair have you got? Are you a miserable old B? Oh. Happy birthday. Also you can no longer trust a fart
  3. The logosol one looks identical to the woodlands one but more expensive
  4. Wood wasp
  5. Well that made me lol. Thanks
  6. Mr Gore died today, the inventor of Goretex. I remember when I first started fell walking I thought all the fancy walking gear was for people with more money than sense. I was in an orange seaman’s rubber cagoule and monkey boots and my brother was in his NCB donkey jacket and two pairs of jeans (better insulation) Don’t know if I was soaked because of the rain or with sweat. My brother couldn’t even bend his knees in his wet jeans. After that I eventually became a gear fiend
  7. Same here. I’ve had 3. I still think they are drop dead gorgeous but my L200 is just perfect for me and so far has never let me down, unlike the defenders
  8. Got some broadband cable laid in the roof space yesterday so we can get WiFi everywhere. The 2 young electricians came down complaining about an infestation of flies. I ignored them thinking nothing of it. I’d already had a few as I’m on holiday. They complain to my wife who started giving me an ear bashing for drinking on a glorious autumn day and said I had to do something. “Feck me! “ I said in a loud voice, “give me some fly spray “ this fat 55yr old put them to shame, went up to the roof space for the first time in 30 years since putting the loft insulation in using my TA NBC face mask, and sprayed til the can was empty and the flies were dead. I told them breathing in the spray was more harmful than the flies.
  9. Can remember about 30 yrs ago being invited to my boss’s house for dinner. He had home grown broccoli and I found a boiled caterpillar in mine but didn’t say a word. Left it hiding under my leftovers
  10. i think i am too lazy to debark. with my M8 the mill went to the trees but with the woodlander it is easy to drag them to a decent spot and the skid cone only protects the front. im going to use a wire brush or axe to get rid of the most fouled bits. used my dremmel to sharpen the blade today, too lazy to remove the chain stop on my grinder. i will try Stephens sharpening service but may invest in my own when i retire. for the next year i will be souly milling spuce, and only one tree at a session.
  11. Harvested the sprouts earlier than expected as the caterpillars were slaughtering them
  12. is everything
  13. was it the way he told them? timing..
  14. oh come on. i thought you were in the over 50s group
  15. i have an Ash about 70 years old (Stubby helped my grandad plant it) it shed a few branches a few years ago i thought to draught. It has several dead terminal branches that i would have ignored if Die back wasn't about, but all my other Ash's have die back so i figured it was. Surely this old lady is not going to succumb?
  16. my next question is, i have an Oregon grinder, please sweet baby jesus tell me i can use this to sharpen my blades. Do i have to get a tooth setter as well? i thought my only consumables was gonna be Fairy Liquid
  17. err, typo?? just ordered his blades. thanks guys, as ever, after posting on here, my bank account is lighter ?
  18. just watched the stephen Cull videos. did exactly as he showed and lost 3 fingers and 2 pints of blood. great to watch a master craftsman
  19. WHAT??? bloody hell. didn't know that about changing blades! i am going as quickly as possible, couldn't resist after the slo mo of chainsawing. i was going to ask about mud but figured it wasn't as important to avoid mud with blades as it is with chainsaws but still need to do. will start using my skidding cone again.
  20. no idea, whatever Woodland Mills use. how many hours of softwood before they need sharpening/replacing? just opened it up and cleaned it out. the blade is out of line on one wheel so will try and correct that tomorrow. also, i wasn't bothering to clamp once i was on the flat bottom. never did with chainsaw mill but will see if doing it makes a difference
  21. Cheers. Not over knots and is tensioned to the mark but I will try a little extra
  22. New to bandsawing. Only 4th batch and noticed these waves. Brand new woodlander. Any ideas?
  23. First cut today. Need to adjust throttle cable and envisage ruining one or two blades on the log supports. Already lost two locking pins on journey to the woods so bought some R clips to replace. Swapped cost of chainsaw oil for Fairy Liquid [emoji849]
  24. any tips re insurance??
