  1. I have seen this many times in engineering. The pocket for the torx or Allen key has to be so deep to allow the key to work. Replaced several on TW150 always torqued up to spec. Unfortunately just the nature of short head bolts.
  2. Hope this helps it took me a while to work it out.
  3. I used creocote modern creosote on mine abt 6 years ago no rot and no affect on veg. Should be good for a few more years. Scaf boards and packaging from work.
  4. Thanks for the help gents much appreciated [emoji3]
  5. Quick update tried tapping with soft drift no chance. Fabbed up a tool and removed clutch bearing very dry but ok. Cleaned down a bit all ready to try on Wednesday with some sycamore Fabbed tool has poor weld as using a large rattle gun and wanted weld to fail before any damage could be done🤣🤣
  6. Yes I know that’s how it was when I got it. Absolutely covered. Will be a lot better when I’m finished I hope.
  7. Removing the starter makes sense as I could hear a noise coming from that side when turning the clutch. Thanks for the advice.
  8. I will give it a go tonight. I will use a brass punch. This saw was bought as a project and I’m surprised it fired up[emoji3]. The only thing I can find wrong is the end of the dead man switch has snapped off. Il see how it cuts. Photos of it when it came.
  9. It’s a 350 only homeowner saw but very cheap. No decomp. I thought that was what the cutouts were for but wanted to make sure. I have a couple of sthil and a makita first husky [emoji3]
  10. Just picked up this old saw. Really dirty when I got it. It’s running really well but I want to check the sprocket and grease the bearing. It looks like there is an area on the clutch face to hit and shock the clutch off but don’t want to do this. Any advice would be appreciated.
  11. I was in need of a new petrol strimmer. Looked at this one and bought it. All works as it should. Not as good as a dedicated long reach saw or hedge trimmer but for the price can’t fault it.
  12. I was once told by a copper don’t use a bat. Have one of the 6 cell long torches to hand. So you can see in dark and just happened to have it in your hand. Baseball bat can be classed as a weapon apparently [emoji848]
  13. Hot summers day and someone switches heaters on and asked you to use saw. Thought hands were on fire [emoji91]
  14. Video killed the radio star, ghost town. Sweet dreams, walk life an Egyptian, sledge hammer , blue Monday Romano and Juliet Can’t spell anymore
  15. Everyone have the best Christmas you can in these times. All the best[emoji106][emoji106]
  16. Total length of bolt for CSK. Length of thread for headed bolts.
  17. Have a 044 and Makita ep5000 50cc oh and a ms181 always reach for the Makita as better antivibe and enough power. Had it burried full bar 18” in hawthorn and pulled fine as a fire wood saw would not look past it.
  18. Short update 044 was still a pain to start. Decided to run Makita on motomix as sometimes left for a few weeks. Filled 044 with it and starts fine now. Suspect old or poor petrol flooding and causing hydraulic on cold start . Loose coil affecting hot starts. Fresh juice would probably be the answer. Running all saws on motomix now as local supplier.
  19. Dewalt quote as chain speed is below 8m/s no tickets are needed to buy it as it’s a top handle arborists saw. Can’t see an arborists using it though too slow with plastic dogs. Ok for general use though.
  20. Finally got round to having a closer look. Plug gap ok at 0.020” coil gap slightly close at 0.008”. Started to set up and found coil moving. Screws were loctited in so wouldn’t move but not right down . Cleaned down and set up now no hurty fingers it snapped string. But Santa came early new Makita ea5000p. Thanks for the advice guys much appreciated.
  21. Stove on today can’t get dog to move!
  22. This one will start ok when cold and seams to get worse when warm. Pulling with passion has lead to a snapped new starter cord. I’m am now thinking the coil may be on the way out and the timing drifting. Will have to investigate further on Thursday
  23. Yes tried pulling just over TDC nice hard yank and handle straight out of hand swear at it next try easier than my 181. Will pull flywheel tomorrow after making a puller and set coil gap. Main prob is snapped cords so job held up
