New Forest area, lived near Lymington. Just near where RobD is now. I'm less than two years off the 50s thread so I probably have to at least start pretending to be grown up some of the time.

On the one hand sounds suspicious, on the other hand lots of people working from home. I guess you could ring Forst office and give them the mobile number to check if they know it.

As Stubby says, if removing the tree is going to affect it then when the tree grows that will also affect it. So you need a pruning regime that keeps the tree roots exactly the same size.... Or, remove the tree and deal with any cracks that do occur, before it gets any bigger or damages the roof any more.

I think I have a quote for about £600 but that is delivered and collected, which is obviously on top of day hire rate so £1300 does seem a bit over the top.

Oooh if you've got a generator you could buy a 12v charger to keep the Matbro battery topped up. Maybe not.

It looks like it already has a huge decay pocket, with that size opening its going to get worse. I've a feeling that to make it safe by reduction you need to take so much that it might turn up it's toes and die. What about propping the remaining big laterals with A frames?

I think so too but even if you win this argument will you want the victory? I agree it stinks but going to employment tribunal is no fun for anyone. It does sound like a bit of a knee jerk reaction, maybe with a bit of time the wife will come round. Then again maybe they just had a massive row and she'll never warm to you. Don't give up. Maybe it's saving up and doing CS30/31 yourself?

When I was looking the chain speed on DeWalt was very low, but I'm not aware of them making any professional chainsaws. The other decent battery saw around is Echo. -

Personally I think the turntable on the 360 makes it the best of the 13hp grinders to use. I'd have to say it depends what stumps you are doing but small trees, leylandii stumps etc it is fine and will always get in to the garden. The folding handle also can help if there are corners. On bigger stumps either hire or sub out to a stump specialist, you need a lot more than 5k to make easy work of these. Customer doesn't care how you get it done in the end.

Do you have to sell 2m3 or deliver 2m3? I only sell about 15 loads a year so I'm certainly not registering, but I wondered if I could sell 2m3 and then look after half of them for my customer, until later in the year.

Do we know that Dolmar are stopping? By which I mean did we clear up whether it's Dolmar and Makita or just Makita brand which will have no more petrol? Don't think we quite got to the bottom of it last time so interesting if you have an update.

If it's not too big a hedge, especially next to a driveway, I usually offer to fell for the same price. Quite often get taken up. So much more fun ragging it to bits stood on the ground, just more chip.

Surely if there will ever be a prosecution then this stuff has to stand up in court? I think eventually there will be a need for impounding logs and oven drying in forensic labs, just like drink driving blood samples. It's going to make a less exciting episode of Silent Witness though. -
Ah spud rescued me there. It would mean buying the gear, and parts - or sending it out. Especially if it needs a cylinder as well maybe look it all up and balance that against how much you like the 390 anyway? Never going to be a world beating saw.
