  1. Before reading I recomend, looking through this thread: for a bit of context In my opinion the current UK towing laws are very restrictive, and have a adverse effect on the growth of small businesses (EG tree surgeons, builders and what not). I think that the current laws should be amended, so that a vehicle can weigh up to 4 tons and the towing weight increased to 5 tons. I think this will help, by giving small businesses access to larger equipment, that otherwise would not be feasible to transport. This would allow small businesses to compete with larger company's on big contracts. I also think this would help solve the problem of vehicles being routinely overloaded (often by us ARB folks). On the flip side I think that the current regs, around tractors and trailer, are completely ridiculous. For those of you that don't know you can drive a tractor with a 18 ton trailer on a standard class B car license. This means you can drive a trailer tractor combination up to 40 tons, without even a standard towing license. I don't quite know, how you would go about solving this. since requiring a HGV license could put a significant dent, in the already unstable agriculture/forestry sectors. Thanks for reading my rant. If anyone has any opinions, I would be very interested to hear.
  2. Do you lift? more specifically do you think weightlifting/working out has any effect, on how well you can do your job?
  3. Kinda ridiculous? yes, but lets get all the money we can from the EU while we are still can
  4. If loose about a ton. I reckon if your groundy is fat enough though, you might just get it to 2 ton
  5. 038 is my pick. Cheap, built like a brick and will cut through, anything you throw its way.
  6. The industry is in a tough place. If we raise prices, we face the growing threat of mechanization, but if rates stay the same arb becomes a far less appealing job (even worse then it is now). It is a tough spot and I can't see the situation getting any better, anytime soon.
  7. can you really blame them? unless you are a subby or run your own firm, the pay isn't great. Especially since you need £1000 worth of quals just to get your foot in the door.
  8. Kinda reminds you quite how dangerous, this work can be
  9. I totally agree. I think alot of people have a rather unfounded hatred of conifers. Yes they can be a nuisance if not properly maintained, or planted in the wrong place but equally I think they have their place in the modern garden.
  10. if its leylandii it can almost certainly be topped, is what i mean
  11. If we are talking cypress/leylandi then almost certainly, but if we are talking others (pine/spruce etc) it is far more dependent on species.
  12. Agree with Matthew, plus you could fit a 360 type mulcher to on the back
  13. 2 council workers fall asleep and their kit gets nicked, they phone their boss to ask what to do. Their boss says "lean up against each other till we get someone to you, we don't want to lose any more tools today"
  14. I have a few husky 37 and johnny 621 parts lying around, and I was wondering if anyone wanted any? I do not have the time to list the parts, so just ask and I will tell you if I have it.
  15. everything is willing what people are willing to pay, if someone is happy paying £450 for 2 hours work let them
  16. Yeah It is above the exhaust port. I am just fitting a £40 non oem piston kit, since it will just be a backup saw.
  17. Thanks for the reply's, but While sanding I found a considerably bigger scrape (almost 1mm deep) so I am going to replace the cylinder as well.
  18. The issue with the piston (bottom pic) is that one side is far more worn than the other, so that definitely needs to go. I will go and give the cylinder a bit of sand, then see how it looks.
  19. Looks good, but you can get them about half the price if you wait for one to pop up in a mod auction
  20. I am currently rebuilding a 024 with low compression, I know I need to replace the piston (bottom 2 pictures) but I am not sure if the cylinder needs replacing (upper 3). any opinions would be much appreciated.
