    Packing it in.

    Great news
  3. And as others have said the woodland belongs to someone, you need to get permission or you could end up being accused of theft and/or criminal damage. That branch or pile of wood laying on the ground might be habitat left there for Countryside Stewardship purposes. If I found you in my wood without permission we would be having a few short and to the point words and I know the local Rural Crime Team who respond very quickly! Get permission and save yourself a lot of bother. Don't forget you may have to split the wood etc. Be careful chainsaws are not to be trifled with you should get chainsaw trousers.
  4. Ford have said they will end 'goodwill' scheme end of November so if anyone still may be affected get in quick.
  5. Sounds like I should be grateful to have missed that one
  6. Nah you've forgotten Ivy.
  7. So basically switch to Aspen, it's better for the environment and you - great, ticks boxes so feeling good about myself. Unfortunately if you have previously used pump fuel in your saw a rebuild is likely coming your way so even if you don't want to carry on using it you're still stuck with a repair bill - or am I missing something? Do Aspen inform potential new users of this likelihood? If not and your saw has problems I can see unhappy people, not everybody is aware of the potential downside.
  8. Thank you for the facsimile of your wonderfull firewood. My kidnappers have burnt this and find it burns too quickly so have upped the ransom so can you please send many more facsimilies please. Can you also send details of your Woodsure membership so they can be assured regarding moisture content. My prayers are with you.
  9. That's clever well done
  10. Dead right Mick, they are upside down see Para 1.33 Part J Building Regs. Also connector to stove flue is wonky, would drive me mad looking at it at an angle. Doesn't look to me as if you would be able to remove the stove without dismantling the chimney system which I think means it doesn't comply with building regs but may be wrong on that bit.
  11. You tell them as it won't even cover the energy bills not worth the effort to move it.
  12. What's the purpose of the trench? What did tree survey show? Think you will struggle, not the same tree you've just worked on in your other thread is it?

    Queen

Guilty as charged m'lud. But will it be 4?, couple of years younger than Charles. On a serious note you have to say she did a good job and was well respected.
  14. +1
  15. You may be interested in this, has closed currently but seed production is open, link for that is on right hand side of the blog. Might be worth talking to your local forestry officer as well. As others have said provenance will be important. Good luck Introducing the new Tree Production Capital Grant FORESTRYCOMMISSION.BLOG.GOV.UK News and updates from the Forestry Commission
  16. Soilscapes soil types viewer - National Soil Resources Institute. Cranfield University WWW.LANDIS.ORG.UK
  17. Noticing a distinct lack of wildlife for a little while. Little or no roadkill these days and not much sign of badgers, pheasants, rabbits, hares etc in the wood or on the pastures. Insect life also noticably absent haven't had to debug my windscreen at all this summer. I know the dry and hot weather will have decimated a lot of creatures but was notable even before that. I'm in East Northants but same is true in North Bedfordshire and West Cambridgeshire. Anyone finding the same?
  18. Long while since I imported anything but the big thing was the shipping agent who gets the shipment allocated to them, they were either a nightmare or really good. Make sure all vat/import duties and other paperwork etc sorted before you go to collect.
  19. Exactly, my local force Northants run what they call Operation Snap just send your dashcam video in and they will act on it as required. I think a lot of other forces do the same so don't just whinge about it send any video in. Dashcams are cheap enough and saved my no claims/premium when someone sideswiped me on a country road. Insurance first reaction was 50/50 until they saw my dashcam footage then changed and I was 100% in clear.
  20. Put yourself on the Tip Site listing it's next to Today's Posts BUT there are a lot of people on there so beer tokens etc may help your cause.
  21. Re bridleways etc council are resposible for surface. Landowner is responsible for any side growth i.e. hedges and trees overhanging. Probably why farmer was playing dumb as it's his responsibility to clear.
  22. So arrived at gate to right of way leading to wood. Unlocked and closed it behind me, all good. Get down to wood gate 60 yards away passing neighbour who is clearing manure pile with two spreaders. Friendly waves all round. Go to get out of cab of tractor where the **** did I put the gate keys. Just used them, not on cab floor, not in pockets, not in little cubby hole under seat. Rats must have dropped them by gate so walk 60 yards back search all round - no joy. Must have left them in cab after all 60 yards back to tractor another search no joy, back to gate again still no luck back to tractor get in cab thinking wtf do I do now? Another search and aha hiding behind the third service levers on the mudguard ??? how did they get there?? Nonchalantly get out of cab to unlock gate trying not to look at neighbour but you just have to don't you and yes he and his two lads all laughing their round objects off. Oh to be young again and have all my faculties back.
  23. Don't know here you're located but this was posted today
  24. Apply to council for variation to the planning condition.
  25. Not recent by vegetation regrowth, road sign and sandbag look new? Maybe didn't sit back up but pulled up and propped to keep ditch clear?
