    Hi all, after some help please. Makita HTR5600 starts and ticks over no problem, when the blade is pointed up it will rev as normal but when the blade is lowered it starts bogging down and will cutout when vertical. Cleaned the air filter, tried with fuel cap lose, applying the choke with no effect. The only thing that does get it reving while pointed down is lightly pressing the primer bulb. Any advice or pointers would be much appreciated. NoPedigree

    It looks more like dirty water marking to me, it being on the lower edge of the boards and also on those two vents. Is there a liner in the chimney? Would be worth a look around the flue outlet, is the staining coming from water washing off soot from the cowl. When it rains does water drip from the stack down the cladding? NoPedigree

    Looking at the top hinge it ain’t going to lift off like a field gate… is there a hole under the top hinge, if so does the top pin have an Allen key head too? Although I suspect the following.. Other thought is is the bottom pin mushroom headed ( flattened and made fatter like a rivet) like spud asked? If so it (the mushroom headed pin) must be able to be pulled out now the grub screw is out. Plenty of WD AND try twisting it using mole grips. if that don’t work or even before trying fit the rope on the door as is. Get the right diameter rope and rope glue and hold it in place with plenty of masking tape for a day or so. good luck NoPedigree

    Any photo of the top hinge? I suspect the bolt you refer to is a type of grub screw ( Allen key head?) that locates in a grove on the uptight supporting pin. Removing that (plenty of WD40 over a few days) could allow the door to lift off the pins like a field gate. no experience of this stove and I maybe spouting shite, nowt new there then. NoPedigree

    Reading the first paragraph how can ClearView continue sell all their stoves without meeting the new regs, which they are doing. Any installers here who could comment if they can install a CV stove to hetas regs? NoPedigree.

    Just reading on the local next door site that someone's having to pay 1.29 pl for heating oil with a three week wait for delivery.. bl@@dy hell! still got over half a tank left from 2020 @ .20p pl, so hopefully things will better price wise 2023/24. NoPedigree

    Spent a couple of years in Oslo and have fond memories of many a lunch or dinner Chanterelle based. Only ever found a couple in the uk over many years, oh well. NoPedigree

    Could someone please advise how old (trunk diameter?) hawthorn needs to be before laying for the first time? The hedge is 7 years old and currently cut at about 6 foot tall. When it’s time to lay should I leave that summers growth, ie no trimming the year it will be layer in the winter? Finally anyone near Ludlow that lays hedges on here? thanks. NoPedigree

    So that is the edge above the handle end of the door? If the handle is tight to close I would expect the top edge above it to be a good seal. Have you ever replaced the rope seal, maybe it’s time and then reset the hinges/ handle so the seal just seals without compressing it too much to give scope for ajustements as it beds in over time? NoPedigree

    I had a smoke control 500 25 or 30 years ago which had a collar on the slider to stop it being shut down too much but also the baffle plate was hollow with holes in. This added air into the top of the fire box to give a clean burn but there was no way of controlling that air flow, is yours like this or has the design changed over the years. If the same the high flue height may be the issue, the collar on the adjusting slider stick was only held in place with a grub screw, remove it which would allow a reduction in air availability? NoPedigree
