  1. Hi Stuart, Good question. The biggest log we tested weighed at least 1.5 tons. We milled the log as it sat on the table in about half. After pushing the top half off, I tried winding one side up, but it snapped the cable. Also one of the little plastic wheels on the pulleys crumbled under strain. The other side was fine though. I replaced the cable with several different types of paracord, none worked at all. Got new stuff off Logosol. However in the meantime we had to chock one end up and used a car jack to lift. If you’re even thinking of going large, I would strongly recommend building a table and a log bed. The shock of loading or turning is quite surprising. Also having a log bed at the same height really helps loading if you’ve not got hydraulics to load. [emoji106] (No, don’t have electricity in our warehouse.)
  2. Last piece of yew on the logosol F2+ with the stihl ms881. [emoji106]
  3. His music has the same effect on me. [emoji848][emoji106]
  4. Damn you and your rational and logic! Very valid points. How does the growth rate compare with birch as pioneer for first thinning? [emoji106]
  5. Does Australia count? They look great over there mixed in with the other rainforest trees.[emoji108] I think the main problem we face is short term human greed. Mainly due to our short lifespan. If humans lived for a thousand years, I’m sure we’d all be planting forests very differently. [emoji106]
  6. J aren’t you planning on leaving the uk? If so could you please leave the legacy of our British forests alone. 🤣🤣🤣[emoji6][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  7. There’s always a market if you can find it. Google is your friend. [emoji106]
  8. That hooley is back. Howling wind and heavy rain. West Yorkshire
  9. I think you’d be safer with one of these [emoji106]
  10. Mostly I just cut everything at 55mm if it’s a slab. Really wide stuff about 80mm+. [emoji106]
  11. That’s mental!!! 🤣🤣🤣[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  12. Cut a few Yew beams today on the Logosol F2+ today with the stihl ms881. [emoji106]
  13. Is it the 102cc?@wonky [emoji106]
  14. Go thick. (100mm)You can always resaw later. With heavy lean comes strong tension and compression which will split or warp boards. Put a lot of weight on top after stacking. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  15. I thought all electric was 3 ph Until you take a single off at your domestic box?
  16. Very nice Robin, Can you get the oversized pot and piston for the 156/164cc? [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  17. Chainsawbars.co.uk is a fantastic business. All run by a very hard working, dedicated, all round dude, Rob.D. As we all know. As many of us deal with him on a regular basis. If such a sympathetic and understanding guy has blocked you... I’m certain he has his reasons.
  18. How to serve man?.... (It’s a cookbook!) 🤣[emoji106]
  19. I can neither confirm nor deny... 🤣🤣🤣
  20. That’s Cornwall. And I’m not joking. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  21. Thanks Agrimog, Wow you’re eagle eyed! [emoji6][emoji106] Interesting what you say about the cord. There is a little play but that should stretch out shortly. If not I’ll swap it out as you suggest[emoji106] I broke one of the lifting cords, when I first got it. Tried loads of different paracords to fix it. All broke under small strains. Phoned Logosol, they sent me some of their stuff. So bleedin strong! The yew was a mixed bunch, some plain some interesting, yeah not much purple/blue. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  22. I’ve never owned an 088 so difficult to compare. The vibration isn’t really a problem for me as mainly it’s milling. However the 881 is much more ergonomic, it feels so different to an 880. Much much better, like a 500i/661 on steroids. The air filter is the same HD2 as the 880 etc. If your ever near Halifax, pop in and have a try bud. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  23. Sycamore....lots of it. Black thorn and Hawthorne you will recognise by touch alone. 🤣[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
