  9. Longhorn beetles eat heartwood too. If you find a larvae, kill it! They have devastated oak woodlands in northern France. I fed them to my chickens When I'd find them(a lot) Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  17. Maximum cash/asset limit. No one can own more than 1million£. Or just reintroduce crucifixion (in Hyde park) for defrauding the public purse/office ✌️ Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. Many choices, Personally I prefer tung oil. (Food grade & safe). Coat every six months. There are many oils that react with the tannins in oak badly causing staining. Also many contain heavy metals and other nasty stuff. Watch out for "boiled linseed oil" it not boiled. It's poisonous. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. 14k a year, or over xyz hours a week per annum (30) I think? Makes a subbie an employee. According to my insurance people. Need employers liability if you have anyone work with you. Bit of a mine field! [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. Dude! That's nasty! Got to be the biggest **** For milling. I heard around Plymouth there are many old trees with shrapnel in from ww2. Thinking about metal detecting trunks. Had more than a few encounters with nails, wire etc. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. I spoke with stihl a few days ago about running a 36" bar on a 461. They said the oiler wouldn't oil sufficiently. A 25" bar they say is max. I ran a 440 for milling, over 18" it struggles in hardwood. 461 is a great machine but know the limitations. If I'm wrong and you can pull a 36" bar without buggering it up. Please post results. Good luck mate [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. Good skills mate [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. Start cutting 4 years before you start selling. That way your wood will be dry. Otherwise without a kiln you be selling wet firewood. Some species dry and split easily/quickly. Others require more work and time. And you'll need a lot of space, and a tractor++++ Hard, dangerous work, Badly paid. Best job I've ever had!!! Deeply satisfying. Make good relationships with clients, and they will call you every time. Good luck [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. Will the oiler work on a 30" bar? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
