  1. Yeah I've met guys who pay £fa a day in London [emoji23] And I've met climbers who are good and feel lucky to get £130 a day with tools and tipper. [emoji848][emoji51] Basically there's more millionaires with big gardens down south. [emoji3][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] Bigtreedon you're right about southerners though. ??‍♂️[emoji23][emoji12][emoji106]
  2. Several years ago in Brittany... A guy buys a house with several fishing lakes 1-2 acres each. Has a problem with Lillys. Spends months neck deep hacking at the roots, and dredging the foliage. Months later.... His girlfriend identifies the Lilly as a rare and valuable species. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Now he sells them to nurseries and on eBay etc for about €7 a pop. [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3] With that and the fishing the guy is retiring at 35. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  3. Is the ladder secured in the middle of the trunk? As ladder gets pushed down, saw appears to rise? Sounds unusual, interested to hear the cause. [emoji106]
  4. This is the inside cross cut. A medium tree held up and in apparent good health by a thin sliver. Anyone else seen similar?
  5. The north is poor. Wages are shit. Been offered £50-£80 a day subbing. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] That's why I travelled 600+miles a week to earn a decent wage. Started with local council two weeks ago ,highly trained and experienced guys on £23k gross. That's it. Down south you'd be asking £30-£40k. I'll be moving back south in a year or two. [emoji51]
  6. This came down over weekend. Fully leafed, no deadwood. This is the bottom side of the trunk. Will photo the stump later. Any ideas?
  7. Last climber I used for a job was £200 a day. Worth every penny. Where do you live floatingbutterfly?
  8. I charge £150 a day subbing and I can't climb. I do have a van full of expensive kit and over ten years experience. I get called back a lot. Climbing should be on more IF you're good. [emoji106]
  9. My 1.8 diesel escort van is about £400 annual But in fairness I've only been driving since march. I'm 42.
  10. I'm full time with the local council, started 2 weeks ago. I'm 3 miles from work! Not 300 [emoji3] My mattress is in my house!!! If I can wangle the ranger then I might get a caravan. "For the family" [emoji57] (Or subbing in a few years time)[emoji848][emoji12][emoji106]
  11. That was an online quote, I'll be calling arborisk on Monday. [emoji106]

  13. Yes Alec, give me a call later to discuss. 07376803384 Saul [emoji106]
  14. Need a double cab for the munchkin and missus. Don't need a tipper yet. Just something to pull a trailer. But you're right I will need one at some point. How much is a tipper conversion?

  18. Absolute bollocks!!!!! French farmers have been bulldozing hedges for over 30 years. Still at it. Kilometres of hedgeless field. Agroforestry????????? Complete bullshit!!!! What advantage in a field of wheat???! Just more crap forms for stupid subsidies from inept governments. Whilst real environmental destruction continues. I'm sorry for the language but it's fucking true. [emoji51][emoji35]
  19. Mattress in a van? Mandatory for subbing. [emoji3][emoji106][emoji106][emoji12]
  20. Driving to a job today, Driver pulls over, 15' ash branch snapped clean off being held above traffic by a couple of twigs and a phone line. 2 minutes on the roof and it's down, cut up and in the back. Without "hawkeye" could have been unpleasant for someone. [emoji106]
  21. Not the fun kind either. Bunch of snowflakes [emoji848][emoji3][emoji23][emoji12][emoji106]
  22. Dimensional timber no problem. [emoji106][emoji3][emoji106]
  23. Where abouts is the tree? Have to be a Saturday really. [emoji106]
  24. Seasoned ties in green wood is fine. Inch a year max from centre. I.e.: 2" slab is 1" from centre, 12" slab is 6" from centre. This is in optimum conditions. In my experience it's a lot longer. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
