  1. Get a professional in, Unless you like spending time in A&E. [emoji51][emoji51][emoji51]
  2. Big congrats gobby, [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  3. I strapped mine to a pallet. Ran on tick over with a little revs every few seconds for 3 tanks. Takes a while... Then milling small diameter 12-24" logs for a few tanks. Then into the big stuff ever since. Big difference from about 15-20 tanks. Torque is epic. But at first I was disappointed by lowish power. It builds. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  4. I've noticed they only show a monthly price. Not what you'll be paying or how long. Tempting though, [emoji3][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  5. I was warned sometime back about sharpening grinder teeth. Bit of a horror story but true. Apparently they contain some nasty stuff. I'd check the manufacturers recommendations. Stay safe. [emoji106]
  6. I know what you mean. Shoulders and wrists. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  7. That pretty tidy mate. [emoji106]
  8. Good looking wood kav, How wide will the Lucas mill cut? [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  9. Got a twenty year old disco2,petrol,4L V8. It's a tractor basically, With 5 seats and room for saws. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  10. Need a freelancer this coming Monday and Tuesday. The job is near Bradford. Just need PPE. No climbing, Nothing complicated. Good pay Phone 07376803384 Thanks Saul [emoji106]
  11. Oak was coppiced for the bark tannins to use in the leather industry. Since synthetic treatment the industry died. 14" oak is very young maybe 30-50 years and won't contain much valuable heartwood. Best after 100-150 years. To make a living, Learn forestry, milling and carpentry build a workshop make fences and furniture. With selective felling this would be a job you could pass on to generations to come. [emoji106]
  12. Out on a limb here.... What about mixed planting? Hardwoods and softwoods. Plant a wide variety of species. Selective thinning of pioneer trees after 20-25 years. A beautiful woodland, rich in biodiversity, would produce a broad variety of products. And would be great to walk through as it matures, What would be better to leave for future generations? Not just ****ing monoculture ecological desert. Think beyond the £££ [emoji106]
  13. I get at least 2-3 calls a year about apple trees. Yes it is good after milling and drying for years, but not many people want to invest £400 in milling and a large space in the garage for several years before a return. And the possibility it moulds or warps or gets eaten by worm. To flip the coin, Phone a few timber merchants/yards and get a quote on apple wood planks. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  14. I've got the stihl msa200 with a pair of ap300's and the fast charger. I love it. Just needs an off button and an oil light. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  15. Battery saw [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  16. Got a photo or two? What's the heartwood like?
  17. Remind me whereabouts you are Westphalian [emoji106]
  18. It's all firewood unless someone can do something with it. Most arb trees from sites or gardens won't be bought by commercial mills as they are bound to have nails or other foreign bodies. I'd offer to Alaskan mill it for you but i don't mill ash anymore. Goes too hard too quick. But a bandsaw would piss it. Then you would have some great slabs. After a couple or four years stacked in a barn they would be worth a lot more than firewood. But it's time and effort. I mill for myself on quiet days and weekends. [emoji106]
  19. Have to agree about the balance though. A 661 is more balanced with a 25" but it's a waste of a 661. [emoji106]
  20. Shock horror!!! Bigger sprockets slows saws down???? [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji3] In a while we'll realise the timing difference in running a bigger bar is negligible. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji848][emoji3][emoji106][emoji106]
  21. This guy Does many interesting comparison videos. (Much better than mine)[emoji12] Interesting to notice both saws slowed with an 8 pin sprocket[emoji848]
