  1. So do you take the box off or rollers out of the box?
  2. Yes that is strange! In my workshop manual they seem to be in the right place for mine. There seems to be a few variations for these Jensens!
  3. I have recently purchased one at a cracking price and I am really going through it, at the moment it is in bits ready to be sandblasted/rubbed down and resprayed. Anyway to the point, what is the clearance supposed to be from blades to anvil? Also how do you change the anvil? Is there an easier way than a massive breakdown I’m thinking the bottom roller has to come out to get to the anvil? Any help appreciated!
  4. The throttle cable sort of works back to front in that when you push the lever forwards the cable tightens therefore compressing the spring taking the revs off. When you pull the lever the cable slackens therefore the spring extends pushing the rod with is connected to the pump giving you more revs. As far as I can see there is not much room for adjustment other than replacing the spring or shortening the cable.
  5. Yes parts only mate, not hard to change over though.
  6. Let me save a few people posting:- - dont bother stick to what your already doing - arb work is awful and underpaid - you’ll make more stacking shelves - theres that many doing it now you wont get enough work - any work you do get will drive the industry price down - you do realise you’ll have to work in the rain and all kinds of weather - when you need to employ subbies or groundies there are none - what if you dont like it so dont try it - maybe offer your services free of charge for some experience over the next 20 years to see if you like it - your probably too old - you wont be fit enough - if you cant afford a Land Rover or brand new van with a new chipper dont bother Im sure I have missed some! Seriously though if you can graft and enjoy the work start off with whatever jobs you get in and feel comfy with, take your reputation serious re-invest in yourself and get friendly with guys who’s already in the game so if you look at jobs you cant handle yet get them to do them by subbing to you or give them the jobs on the basis that you do a day for them on the jobs. You have to work outside your comfort zone to raise your level of comfort. Hope you like it and all the best!

Haha yes mate I’m sick of seeing you there How are the jackets?
  8. Decision makers often become power mad and power hungry in all walks of life professionalism is a two way street. In this instance it matters not but there is a reason why there is a cut off of 6 months regardless of intentions. I intend on on becoming a billionaire not too sure that will happen though.
  9. I run these chains on a few of our saws now and they are good for the money. They do stretch after first use but after that they stay the same and after a quick nip up they are fine. Overall, good chains. I run an 18 inch bar on one saw and it’s just ok it’s a bit flimsy in the cut compared to others but for the use that particular saw gets it’s fine I can live with it. Overall, I prefer other bars. In summary I’ll continue to purchase chains from northern arb.
  10. Yes parts delivered. It isn’t a hard task to change them. I was pretty full on today but ill post pics tomorrow.
  11. Full wrap on the new to me 372 well chuffed with this buy/saw!!
  12. As explained in the other thread I dont have a day rate per se however I have selected what I charge on avg per decent tree i.e it fills a day for 2 or 3 men with the kit you mentioned. Did some Connie bashing today 3 of us full day and the money was in the category I chose.
  13. Did you get discount?
  14. From memory I think mine has a cable to the top of the fuel pump with a spring and a adjusting rod, we have that many bits of kit though so let me check tomorrow and come back to you.

  18. If i remember ill post 1 tomorrow for you.
  19. @swinny as a side note to their service, we ordered a part yesterday and asked for a bit of haste, it was delivered this morning!
  20. Ours is a a528t so has 2 springs, yes its crazy to think they wear but when you consider the amount of use and hammer they take! http://www.dennisbarnfield.co.uk/ we get spares from here, ask for Richard he deals in Jensen for them.
  21. Oh just to add when we removed the old springs you could bend them quite easily by hand, the new ones wouldn’t budge!
  22. The springs and roller bearing are supposed to be changed every 500 hours, we have just done ours at a cost of roughly £180 and the difference is staggering. We also gave the top roller a grind when it was out and the bottom roller a touch up with the dremmel in situ.
  23. Is this a trick thread to show us how good your house is?! Wow!!
  24. If it is your only chipper I personally would invest in a tracked and stick it on a trailer, it’s a tow behind on the trailer and they open up so many more jobs off the trailer.
