Brexit ! what will this mean ? ( lets get a good thread going )
WesD replied to digaholedumper's topic in General chat
I work for an NHS Foundation Trust as well as for myself. I live in the NHS bubble as far as elderly go yes they cost but point 1 thaeyve paid in all of their lives point 2 caring for them isn’t where the cost or complications solely come into play it’s catching up with Alzheimer’s dementia and Parkinson’s etc that used to be rare so didn’t receive funding. Now it needs research. Health tourism I wish was a scare story but the fact is it isn’t it is a real problem being brushed under the carpet the fact is no one keeps a count on health tourism , it’s let go so as to not show how big of a problem it is. I did bend that case but that’s what you keep doing to suit your narratives. Thanks, I will keep reiterating I have no issue with immigrants who want to come here and earn a crust I do feel we would benefit though from a points based system like Aus. -

Your bending the situation to suit your point, they tend not hmm this is tosh it’s a mixed bag some work here and leave sure but lots stay and bring their families too. To be fair I have no problem with immigrants coming here to better their lives providing they work for it instead of taking handouts! Immigration is the nhs’s Biggest problem by far however they don’t document the problem why well to hide it. Last year there where more applications for an ehic card from outside the UK it’s a growing problem. Individuals use dodgy companies to gain a british postal address apply for ehic make a doctors appointment visit UK for appointment fly home have paperwork completed by dodgy company then low and behold dodgy company collects mail from UK address and posts ehic on all for a fee to the dodgy company so we pay for their care outside the UK! You couldn’t make it up! Imigrants if they have worked here holidayed here or even fly here to give birth can walk into any A&E and receive treatment without paying a penny for us to do that abroad we need ehic + insurance. Now ill bend facts to suit my agenda here goes ..... my UK adult aged 65 has not yet retired and has never been ill or unemployed he’s paid tax from 16 years of age and is still paying tax hasn’t really needed much from the NHS vs an EU immigrant aged 30 who’s been here for 5 years in construction has left his family back home so supports them by sending 50% of his salary Home also hasn’t needed the NHS but needed somewhere to live when he came with no money. Which outcome is better for UK? I’m not going to persuade you to change your mind on in or out and you won’t change mine you are free to hold whatever opinion you like without being labelled narrow minded or retarded I will still respect your opinion you’ve earned it however a touch of class in return seems too much to hope for from camp remain. IMO their is no correct answer only a direction and a work in progress I have worked all of my life paid my my taxes served my country returned the forces investment by touring before leaving haven’t yet needed the nhs much and would like my opinion to be not heard or adhered but at the least respected without being labelled narrow minded or retarded and before you say those comments weren’t aimed at me directly you labelled half well more than half of the exit voters that way so statistically 1 in 2 leaver on here are narrow minded or retarded. I just thank god @matelot is on side leave with me only kidding @matelot -

If you look around houses are being built by private or plc companies for profit via sale to the paying public, the amount of housing associations building for social housing is small fry. Last year I did a lot of days subbying on land clearance for housing to be built all on multiple sights, none where for social housing. As a side not my brexit argument is not immigration biased I find it hard to believe yours is yet your happy working away as an immigrant, smarts don’t come into it. -

It doesn’t matter the 15 year plans have already changed they won’t change them again. Greenbelt is already being built built on in massive proportions this will not be reversed. It is is far easier for builders to build on virgin land than it is to regenerate brownfield. We we are already playing catch up on housing so it’s carry on as is until there is no demand which will be never be the case housing will always concertina. -

I found Mr Barniers point very interesting the other day when we conceded that we’d allow immigrants already here a visa to stay pending criminal checks he said no they stay without criminal checks! Who have we taken in and what have they to hide? hmm -

Green belt is already being ravaged to be built on and with lots of councils up and down the country having there 15 year plans re-written being in or out of the EU won’t change this. -

Comparing an EU migrant to a UK citizen is like for like depending on salary surely however you chose to compare your migrant against a whole family kids and parents included without the use of a plural? That’s like bending facts to suit your argument is it not? I didn’t get a reply on yesterday’s post so I’m not too hopeful on one here either. If however we use your logic then surely 1 EU migrant will not pay as much tax as the UK citizen his/her kids when they grow up plus the tax the folks already paid?! I have nothing against immigration on the whole however I think we should have a points/skills based criteria ala Australia so our nation truly benefits. Just a thought when immigrants come here to earn and leave their family’s at home be it parents or spouse and kids do you think the salary earned stays in the UK economy or do they send percentages of their salary home? -
Out of interest and for the sake of this forum is there any chance you can find out the price they were charged to remove the tree?

Sooooooo a groundy earns £80 for an 8-12 hour shift yet someone on a stump grinder gets £800 for 1 stump half a day?!?!?! WTF

26.9% is still a large number of our population. Is it factually correct to call that amount of people retards or is this an insult because you can’t explain their reasons for voting without using the usual drivel churned out by camp remain? Being small doesn’t mean you can’t be successful. Is success measured on size? Our armed forces wouldn’t think so. Freedom of movement (as an example) is completely different to the power of a vacuum cleaner. Laws and specs different. To stick with vacuums as an example dyson could have 2 motors to fit 1 product, powerful motor to sell to uk. Weak EU motor to sell to EU. Simple really. Point being remain camp see the EU as this big stable block that we should continue to be a part of. It’s not it contains lots of countries struggling wrapped tightly by a belt that’s just about holding them together. Is Greece a growing nation on the road to recovery? Youth unemployment is atrocious across the EU a lot of individual nations are hardly nations to envy. Why is the EU squeezing us for every penny just to talk? Could they be in trouble financially when they know they can no longer depend on our ever increasing amounts of money? Exactly the EU is huge yet small %’s like the car manufacturers are warning the EU that purposely hurting us will hurt them which in turn it will hurt the EU. How many jobs does the car market have because of our purchasing power? People will always want to deal with the UK whether we are in or out of Europe because if you have a product to sell an I am willing to purchase it my money is as good as anybody else’s and at its most basic it is the likes of you selling to I not government to government that matters. Holland will still supply our nurseries with plants, shrubs and trees long after these debates have finished. -

Out of curiosity, if we go and make a good go of it and do well do people still think there will be an EU bloc in 10-15 years? Will Greece and the likes carry on being broke or make a go of it on their own? -

So more than half of our population are desperate and a bit retarded? “Just because something has changed doesn’t mean it will be better” nor does it mean it will be worse. Making things to EU spec to sell is different to having EU laws. Dont forget people Austria have just had a massive change in leader. France too granted he’s pro EU. Germany have a coalition of 3 and can’t agree anything between them ...... these EU nations aren’t exactly stable and yes their combined economy is bigger but a lot of these nations are dictated too on interest rates and the likes so buying power is mixed nation to nation within the EU. German car manufacturers are a small drop in the EU ocean yet they are pleading to not punish us as it punished them, why is this? People have an awful habit of underselling the UK! -

@Rich Rule genuinely interested in what Norwegians think by the way as they are non biased as they are neither in or out so to speak. When I was skiing in solden last year I was asking guys we got chatting to in lifts etc and opinions seemed to be 50/50! A lot of the Germans wernt happy though at the levels of immigration in Germany when Merkel opened the gates, local crime was shooting up in their opinions of Course. -

Fair enough, that was my point though more will come to replace what has left the same will happen in London except the markets are largely successful for large firms. Out of interest have you asked locals and norwegian friends if they’d like to be part of the EU like the UK is? If so what are their thoughts and do they think we are doing right by ourselves in coming out or do they think we are making a mistake? -

Bingo and although the rest of the countries have caught up on infrastructure we still lead in terms of latency giving the leading firms .hundreds of seconds advantage over others. Doesn’t sound a lot but it is still an advantage, this was a small draw but made these firms millions/billions. The financial markets will continue whether we are in or out of the EU and a lot of people argue it is Britain’s main source of income, if the big firms leave others will take their place the world will still spin the sun will still rise yes we will encounter turbulence but so will the EU and what no one can know for sure or predict is how long it will be for or who will prosper the most it is all guess work on guess work. UK plc will have to and continue to invest in its own infrastructure to keep us at the leading edge, do people think once we are out that’s it? Time to give up? I dont, it will only be the beginning after all it is then and only then when we will have a point to prove. One good trait about the British of old is our competitiveness and determination. The tree game is the same how many times do we see the start up, is their too many, what should I be paid etc etc threads on here, they all boil down to us wanting to be the best, grow build a reputation based on skill and and do the best we can! I really wish we would stop making things hard and start to put heads together on how we can be the best UK plc outside of the EU. -

What of the world? People have no faith in the UK to do well outside of the EU and a few have mentioned larger companies are making provisions and are readying to move from London to the EU but do people know why London was such a draw in the first place? -
