  1. Which one or two do you like vesp? Also anything in there you liked?
  2. Thoughts?
  3. People hiding wealth happens in every country no matter who or how its run, its called greed and it is only human nature to want to keep what you perceive as your hard earned! Being in or out of the EU will not stop that however if you try to punish the rich who have handed the jobs out in the first place well they could always close shop and keep their money to themselves and live a happy life you know sort of take their ball home. I personally wouldn’t bite the hand that feeds me for want of an appropriate metaphor. Is tax avoidance the same as tax evasion?
  4. Less is not more when walking in the great outdoors. If trainers have come on the last few decades don’t you think boots have? I wear my fell trainers on walks where I know the ground and terrain and I’m not in the mountains and if the weather is good. If I am in the mountains where the weather/fog can come in or I don’t know the area/terrain it’s boots every time for me as well as a daysack with map compass jumper and waterproofs with a bit of food and water in there for good measure. As for seeing wing people with injuries. I do quite a bit of off road running and events I usually do a couple of good ones a year where injuries are rife. For every snack station there is a medic station. On walking no I don’t see lots of injuries but then again that could be contributed to the fact that most people I see are wearing boots. If you don’t respect the variables you will get caught out, unless of course Vesp is either only walking around Bolton Town centre and Asda or he’s ray mears in disguise. Oh I have mentioned on a couple of threads but I’ll give it another shout out, merino wool is the future, all of my base layers and socks are now merino wool.
  5. Also how many salaries do they provide that both gets taxed and goes back into the economy when spent on living.
  6. I dont understand why people seem to think if we are out of the EU we cant trade?! Trading wont stop it will actually get better as not only will Europe want to deal with us (like I keep saying at its core its people selling to people not gov to gov) but we will actually be allowed to trade with the rest of the world. America only trade if it benefits the USA is this a bad model? They also aren’t part of the EU and they do ok with the rest of the world.
  7. Silkys back. Arbtalk is surely overdue 1 of your picture blog adventures!! Well done on your fitness goals btw.
  8. Mate I’m quite shocked you voted leave. Question for you who who do you think is best in charge to get us out of the EU? Party wise not individually. Personally I know it wouldn’t and couldn’t of ever happened but when we voted leave and it won we should have had a 50/50 coalition lab/con running the country and running brexit to stop infighting between still remaining or leaving 1 vision for the future then 12 months after we officially left hold a general election. Eh well here’s to common sense. How longs it been now and where here still debating if we made the right choice instead of what we want to achieve out of the EU and how are we going to get it.
  9. I charge the same rate whether I’m on the floor or climbing when I sub out it is up to the few I sub too to use me how they see fit. Personally I bring my own kit and fuel as I know my kit and fuel mix etc. As for using other people’s toppers well that’s not for me but it’s each to their own I sharpen my saws the way I like them to run for me I have upmost confidence in my kit so it’s my kit I use. Arb work is straightforward in that everybody knows the end goal on each job before a saw is started so as long as you have a good work ethic are fit, pro active and good to get along with you’ll do ok and most importantly everyday is a school day, always be open to learning something new or achieving a task in a new/different manner. I charge the same same on the basis that if I’m on the floor because that’s where you need me I’m not wasting a day earning less than I could climbing but also I’m of the attitude that everyone is equal climbers are not better than groundies and visa versa the team’s efficiency depends on everyone performing together and being proactive rather than being reactive and waiting for instruction.
  10. I thought you liked to be part of the bigger picture and not be singular and secluded from the world. Your one of a kind vesp! Ill see if I can find it online for you.
  11. It was on bbc mate not sure if it is still on iPlayer.
  12. Well you will be looking for a long time, the nations within the EU are not on a parity. All pay different rates, all being told to take different amounts of immigrants reducing coal power by varying amounts. All with varying amounts of debt paying back interest before being able to spend on public services. Watch Greece with Simon Reeves and Turkey with Simon Reeves, some nations are in to take others are told to give, Germany is far from stable at the moment the EU will end up in a civil war when the rich nations become too elite for the poor within it. Protecting borders is quite rich seeing that its opened them. We have the UN and NATO to project military power.
  13. Why dont you emigrate to North Korea or Russia, sounds like it may be your cup of tea.
  14. As a side note, I heard a whisper 2018 will be the last year diesel chippers (not sure if it applies to all plant) can be made to run without a DPF filter due to EU environmental demands. Red Diesel doesn’t work well with DPF it forever clogs the filter soooo white diesel it is then! Oh Joy thanks EU.
  15. The problem with looking outside of the box is you dont know what you are looking for, sometimes the answer is in front of you in the box a bit like when you needed scissors instead of a knife, simple really. If we strike a free trade agreement with the EU on our exit vesp, do you think business will carry on as is? I think business will carry on as is regardless because at its core and most basic it is the likes of me selling to you not gov to gov I have bills to pay as will you. We will still be climbing on a multitude of ropes and stihl and husky saws will still be readily available we will not be confined to marlow and bow saws.
  16. Suppose it depends on the individual and what he/she ispaid. A few negatives he/she could bring:- - Bad attitude - Poor work ethic - No experience A few positives:- - Great attitude - Gumption to do and not wait to be told what to do - Experience on the ground, saw, and running ropes - Area Rescue Kit ie saw not essential but a plus. Personally I like to use my own kit whether climbing or on the ground but my price reflects that when I sub out.
  17. To be fair these types of threads are in GENERAL CHAT, it’s a bit like when you go to the supermarket you don’t have to buy every item however 90% of the time you have to walk by every item.
  18. Sh!t!!!! That’s a horror!
  19. Suppose its how he did it every time and 98 times out of 100 there was no mewp or film crew and the mewp and film crew where there to watch him do it his way.

How honest are you!! Surely you could pick jobs and climb less? Past your best is still better than most?!

Yes I think that’s a habit I’ll start! Its a great bit of kit though and wouldn’t be without one now. I wanted my TIP as high as possible today (lots of fannying about and limb walking) so I had it in a V maybe that was the problem?! Retirement on the mind @Steve Bullman or a change in direction? Tell me to mind my own if you like.

Supposed to not get stuck these things, had mine stuck twice this week! 1st Time I managed to get it down with a lot of persuasion, it came flying out like a rocket! Today it really cheesed me off getting a 2nd rope out and a Blake’s to go up and retrieve it!!!! It made me appreciate my SJ3. Has as anyone else got their rope guide stuck?
