  1. Art rope guide SJ 3 and positioner is a great set up for ddrt. Silky smooth, minimum friction and once used to the kit you can move around pretty quick with minimum effort.
  2. It seems a bit of a Hail Mary and may not work but it seems to me you have nothing to lose, they aren’t for helping so ..... Hail Mary away.
  3. Then how do you use the saw
  4. I would argue they have no right in throwing something away that is not their property which you also see as evidence, what are they trying to hide. I would threaten legal and maybe go and see a no win no fee solicitor. No deals no discounts a new saw or pursue it legally.
  5. 540 all the way for me.
  6. Use a silky for smaller stuff or on pines if you make your first cut an inch or so away from the branch collar and your second cut behind branch collar almost into the main trunk it will hold for a few seconds and twist off and drop nice. Practice will help too.
  7. Came across a goat willow on a canal bank with a tpo on it last year.
  8. Not a bad deal considering we are leaving the EU.
  9. http://dailym.ai/2nO9MdN
  10. Suppose that’s the key ingredient, seeing it in the flesh. What’s bugging me about it is someone made the effort to attach the rope high up why not attach it a bit higher and fell it in 3 or 4 sections. Your already there so to speak get a saw sent up and crack on.
  11. He says undertake a fell on that tree, I took that as he wouldn’t fell Lombardy Pops. Would you have felled it?
  12. How many on here would have felled it? The AA’s response will be interesting, they are in a hard place now and their outcome will set a moral compass for them going forwards with their accreditation and how seriously the take themselves. Do they carry on as is taking their money with the spin they have been punished enough? What message would that send and would it devalue their accreditation? Do they put them in some sort of special measures increase visits etc and work with them? Do they suspend their accreditation for a time period to let them regather and recover before re assessing them to regain accreditation after a time out so to speak? AA may have other options ideas but their take and reaction on this will speak some volumes to the industry and could potentially shape their future for better or worse. The AA I would say are now under a metaphorical spotlight and in a difficult spot.
  13. I blame brexit!
  14. Thing is with pricing to what you need is you could be massively undercutting yourself! I personally price to what I think the job is worth and everything else sorts itself out ie if I do 3 trees in a day and I had a day rate or I needed 750 per day do I only charge 250 per tree knowing the price should be closer to 500 per Tree? No I don’t I put them to the value I think so I could potentially turnover 1500 that day but tomorrow turnover may be 250 but as I said it usually sorts itself out for me.
  15. I agree, does anyone else think similar and price accordingly?
  16. Am I right in thinking there’s a rope from the pop to the van with the intention of pulling it over? If so why not spike the thing and drop it in sections? Eh well, arb approved too aren’t they?
  17. More thoughts and ramblings . . . Has anyone taken notice on what works when pricing or is it just me over thinking. We all know what we need to earn for the day to work for us but we don’t or I certainly don’t price a big job on a day rate I price it to what I think the job is worth. Anyway getting to the point when you price do you round up, finish on an even number or odd? I find commercial customers don’t like even rounded numbers ie £800 and when I price like that I lose jobs however if I price similar job to a commercial at say £825.70 I normally win the job. Domestics I find love rounded numbers be it £600/£650/£700 etc etc Anybody else noticed similar or given pricing any thought?
  18. As much as I want brexit to happen I can really see it going to shit and soon.
  19. Bet that’s harder than it looks!
  20. Can you do any of this on iPad pro or iPhone?
  21. It’s hard, especially if you think the knotweed has been disturbed. If it has been disturbed your better saying you can’t guarantee it.
  22. Personally would not use glyphosate with knotweed, don’t quote me but the ratio is something like 5:1 to be really effective so it becomes as costly as using a chemical more suited. We use icade, before that we used Tordon 22k however when it’s license ran out it didn’t get renewed, kind of a theme with chemicals. Also in large clumps you’ll need repeat visits in first season and your guarantee should last 3 years so potential of more chemical to be used if you get bits through in year 2 or 3. Its ta very hard to guarantee also as if it’s been disturbed in the last few years chances are rhizomes could have snapped under ground and only show years later. A sure way is to dig and dump again don’t quote me I’m working from the top of my head hear but I think it’s 7 metres in every direction from the knotweed so you remove a hell of a lot of earth and it has to be inspected on removal and the cost to get rid is extortionate soooooo all options add up to £££.
  23. 70 odd trees in 4 days is a massive ask!! So sad! Thoughts go out to his family!
  24. I want to say black walnut but that’s probably too easy for on here sooo wild service Tree ??
  25. Staying in or being part of the EU comes/came at a cost.. no matter how you look at it, Britain PLC loses/lost out one way or the other...
