1. Ive got one of those 4' felling levers as well and get the sideways bend when trying to use it as a Cant Hook. My 60" Logrite Cant Hook has an aluminium Bar though and its great. very little bend. So I guess the wooden handle is down to personal preference.
2. Out of interest why do you advise a wooden handled Cant Hook? The Stress I put my 60" Cant hook through I seriously doubt a Wooden Handled one would survive long.
3. I bought mine from Rob D on here. Get the Diamond grinders, they last so long Ive not had to change mine out yet.
4. If thats the case then I'd highly recommend this grinder for the field. As long as you have a 12v power supply you can sharpen the teeth and rakers to the exact same dimensions. https://granberg.com/product/g1012xt-precision-grinder-12v/
5. I removed two toads from a pile of clogs I was splitting. Could easily have killed them as I never knew they where there and what a fleg they gave me. After reading your post I should have moved them to my Veg patch and not the small forested area at the back of the house.
6. Get yourself a good Cant Hook. There's a bunch out there and I use the Logrite 60" Version. Much better than using poles to position Logs and about £100. When Im using my Alaskan I dont position it on trestles? At least not initially anyway. But then Im not milling small logs. I'll choke it to stop it rolling about and Mill away till the Saw is getting to close to the deck then maybe raise it onto trestles. Something like the Lososol Smart Pusher might be of use here? Smart Pusher | LOGOSOL WWW.LOGOSOL.CO.UK
The tools that give you extra strength

LOGOSOL’s unique tools for log handling give you extra muscles and a... Or maybe a Farm Jack?
7. Fair enough mucker. I had a couple of really tough shifts the last two days as well. Our crew cost AkerBP in excess of $1,000,000 additional rig rental due to a fuck up. ? This also resulted in the company Im working for losing 30% of the whole contract price. We can can come back to playing another time.
8. Is that a little Husky S1600 I see poking out there?
9. Does it make a difference? Guess that heavily depends on what you plan on doing with your life and the job you wish to do. I certainly need them for my C.V. PS, 62 years working is a fair stint. Or are you counting from the time you where born? I can't imagine you where asked to produce that many qualifications at Nursery....
10. Well thats all thats even gonna happen if you count day/week courses as qualifications.
11. Hey, if you're happy thats all that matters.
12. Only you could suggest an actual trade then argue with yourself regarding whether its a trade or not.
13. But you dropped out of School, you dropped out of an apprenticeship and you've not stuck a job since. You dont seem to have a single trade or qualification to fall back on? Fitting tyres is not a trade, neither is rodding drains. Maybe consider getting a few qualifications under your belt, you're still young enough to make it worthwhile. You dont wanna be doing what your doing later in life, your back will thank you. I also dropped outta school. Bloody hated it and cleaned windows with my mates. But I managed (somehow) to stick it out and got my Car Mechanics Apprenticeship under my belt. But then there was no work so I did another 4 years on a second apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering. Thats a lot of years on crap wages, but paid off in the end.
14. Nah, just proved that you're talking shite. Seems like the only people walking off whistling is the folk who you hire.
15. No half truths, no chest beating no lies. Other than getting the 40 weeks papa leave wrong anything else? Then ask your NAV Lawyer about the agreement/loop hole regarding rotating Oil Field workers and why we can officially take the Papa Leave payments as either 40 weeks at 100% or longer at 80%. Would you like proof? I have a folder full of that shit. They are trying to put a stop to it but its still in place as of now. I'd get that again this year if my missus was working or studying full time, but at only 50% she/we do not qualify. I'll just make do with the 10 x 7,500nok payments for each kid when they dont go to a Norwegian Nursery. So we both have 12 years in Norway? Big woop. You may know guys in the Oil Industry but Im actually in it, obviously Im gonna know all the NAV tricks because we all share and take about them off-shore. I think I can see why you struggle to get lads now......
16. Please dont call me a liar. I am noting of the sort. Rather ask me to explain how I can take the 40 weeks Paternity leave as a cash payment instead and then asses as if you still believe Im lying. Yes, you cant currently hold dual nationality/two passports in Norway, although that could be soon changing. I never stated I have a Norwegian Passport, nor do I want one. It was a joke..... Fluent Norwegian is for the workshop job in question, not the oil sector as a whole and within my company only. Its not written but as I mention, they have closed ranks somewhat and have added various clauses to the contracts stating Bergen Tests for example. This was already in place when my wife went for a Lab Tech Position 5 years ago, she had all the qualifications and could get by with her Norwegian but it was stipulated she needed the Bergen Test. Engineering positions are more in demand and suitable candidates are of course picked from around the the world depending on qualifications and time in the field, but we where talking about an entry level workshop position on 350,000-450,000nok not 600,000nok plus Office based jobs. Why you think Id make this up is beyond me.
17. To be honest thats all you could afford to live in for 400,000nok a year.
18. As soon as you get your Norwegian Passport, pass your Bergen test (speak fluent Norwegian) and move to Stavanger. The Norgies have really closed ranks lately. And 400,000nok is not nearly enough for a families income. OK if you're single, use public transport and really really like Ramen Noodles.
19. Yeh, Norgies are hard work. I have a crew of 7 of them on this job and its a bad enough trying to drag them out the recreation room to do a few hours work. Yeh, off-shores kicked off again big time. Nows the time to push for another significant wage rise, Im just biding my time. I'll rape them again. Im a local a local Norgie Contract. I pay all my tax to Norway, but also get full NAV benefits too. 40 weeks Paternity leave last year. (I took the cash instead, the greedy bugger that I am) 3000nok a month Child Benefit, Norgie State Pension for the last 10 years etc etc.
20. Are you specifically looking for UK guys or hiring Norgies? Just curious? Surely UK lads would jump at a deal like that? Actually, I went into the office a couple of years ago and threatened to leave and doubled my Salary. Expected to negotiate hard but they said ok, even threw in 9000nok in car allowance a month that I never even asked for. Was a good day.
21. To put things into perspective 350-450,000nok is around what our guys get in the Workshop in Stavanger for mincing around all day drinking coffee. Private Health Care and a very good company pension.
22. If your turnover is half of what it could be due to not having a helper then surely paying a helper an extra 100-200,000nok would seem like good business sense if it got you back to what you should be bringing in? Or are the margins just too tight?
