  1. Looks like a nice piece. Whats it reclaimed from? Is the last pic of it set in resin? How thick are they?
  2. Im yet to put a coat on. The missus has been plastering around it and painting the walls. Will make a start tomorrow.
  3. Yeh, kinda like that. This is mine.
  4. A mate has a good Oregon one that he uses for his 404 harvester chains. I used to sharpen my 48" chains on it til I bought the 12v Grandberg one. It was great and very easy to avoid case hardening the chain by just taking a slight kiss off the teeth. If you hit metal and need to take more meat off the teeth then just do so bit by bit. Common sense stuff really.
  5. You'd think the Farmer would have mentioned that when the Op called him about the Oak removal?
  6. 40-70kg is quite light really. Asmall 2 wheeled cart would handle that easily. Easy to make as well, just a couple of Trailer wheels, an axle and a sheet of Ply etc on the top. I have something similar I got for nothing that carts my beams around with ease.
  7. Having looked into it a bit it seems like the RHI payments for a single home use are not related to fuel consumption. I could be wrong though? It seems like I’d get £12,000 back over 7 years, on a system that would cost £20-23,000.
  8. Sounds like you’ve got a cracking set up! Well jealous. I can see how what you’ve set up will work when you’re providing heat for three households but bring it will just be for my home I could not justify the huge outlay to emulate what you’ve done.
  9. I swear by Danish Oil. I've just installed a mandle in my daughters bedroom thats what I'll be using.
  10. There's enough busybodies out there that's for sure. Advertise on FB or whatever and Im sure they will come creeping outta the woodwork reporting folk. Ive also noticed that to get the RHI for a new Log Burner you have to buy your logs from a Woodsure supplier. Not sure how they police that but I assume you have to provide reciepts to prove you're buying them to get your cash back. Thats kinda scuppered my plans for that unless there is a way around it? I must have anout 50m3 of logs split ready for the instalation next year and if I cant use them then I'll not bother and just keep burning them in the Stove/s and the Ironheart when I come to install that.
  11. Only if selling under 2m3. You can still sell unseasoned logs to the customer after Feb 2021 above 2m3 legally.
  12. Now thats a great idea! I have a Stihl Backpack one that would be perfect for that. Normally on a drive home the Mill self cleans though.
  13. we use it off-shore for cleaning electrical connections before the termination is ran into the Well. I mill a bunch of Stika and just use washing up-liquid. Sparkly clean blade every time. Way cheaper too.
  14. No, it’s a semi-temp solution for the drainpipes coming off of the roof. Currently the roadside drain is collapsed so the Septic is having to be pumped out to the back of the property with a pump and flat switch. All the stone drains for the down pipes where choked full and with the roadside drain being blocked there was nowhere for the rainwater to go either. So the lads put a pump with a float switch in with a chamber to handle the rainwater will the Council pull their fingers out. (Two years and counting)
  15. It’s quite a fun day out. My 2 year old loves going around the garden looking for treasure. We’re getting a bunch of drainage and landscaping done just now so lots of fresh turned over topsoil to check over.
  16. I know. I’d rather have good second hand gear than new and inferior.
  17. Luck of the draw really. Like many things I buy it was second hand. Cost me £100.
  18. Ive always fancied getting the Mr Bill Mods done to my IDX Pro but I hardly ever use the damn thing. Ho straigh forward is the Mod? Ive seen some pictures but not sure what components Id need. I guess you need a steady hand with the old Soldering Iron? Being that I have the Pro I believe it has 30% more depth over the IDX Classic. So might not be required anyway?
  19. Ive got a Whites IDX Pro. Not found much, or had much time to look but as we've been getting some drainage work done in the garden we had it out for an hour last night. Found a Musket Ball, a few 1850's to 1930 coins and an old Whistle.
  20. Isopropanol Id assume.
  21. Anyone else use washing-Up Liquid? @Big J suggested that to me when milling Larch etc. i use it all the time now. It also keeps the blade nice and clean. Ive also seen folk suggesting Car Wax Shampoo. Ive used this as well. The idea being you get the cleaning/cutting action of the Washing-up liquid but also the waxing properties to prevent rust on the blades etc. It seems to work too.
  22. So Dave @Johnsond built me a cracking Aluminum Router Sled and Ive finally got around to using it. Milling an Oak Slab that will become a Headboard for a bed. Worked very well and the HDPE sliders are a great addition. '
  23. Yeh, still waiting on that pic as well.
  24. The only thing Les has proved is what a plonker he is. Still waiting on him posting a single picture of something he's actually made out of wood. Other than sanding two planks.
  25. Health and Safety gone mad. Most likely some office goons bought himself a woodburner and decided to split his own logs and chopped his fingers off.
